Flavor is also mostly hops, especially at first. Finish has a slight malt presence, but is mostly bitter. Despite that, it’s surprisingly drinkable and not overpowering. Maybe I’m a hophead, but I found it extremely pleasant. RollinHard (755), Fort Worth, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 25, 2009 Pours orange copper with a moderate white-ish head. Aroma is so much better than other Lagunitas beers it makes me laugh. Pine, grapefruit, orange, and a strong plant and herb presence; this is just wonderfully hopped. Flavor is a little more balanced with orange, sugar coated bread, toast, pine, and more fruity and less herbal than the nose. Finishes with a bit more pine, fading into, toast, and some burnt orangey dessert type thing. Moderately bitter. Medium bodied, drinkable, not QUITE as creamy as it could be. Great beer, very admirable and well made. I can’t help but not be in the mood for it though... kseecs16 (873), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 25, 2009 Bottle. Aroma is pure hops, sweet, floral, resinous, piney. Appears light amber with a soapy off-white head that laces in thick rings down the glass. Flavor is very hoppy, piney and floral. Thin with not much malt body but a very nice sweet hoppiness. Light bodied, but a faint hint of phenolic booze. Nice.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 24, 2009 Bomber, pours a clear copper color with a thin off-white head. Minimal lacing along the side of the glass. Hoppy aroma is a mixture of grapefruit, pineapple, and honey. Hoppy citrus flavor that also includes an interesting combination of sweet maltiness with a touch of sauerkraut. There is a nice amount of bitterness in the finish but I was expecting even more based on the label’s description of 102 IBUs. Still a very nice selection. The 8% is well hidden. Great big hop aroma with a huge grapfruit finish. Hearty malt backbone and a good heavy ABV. Hop lovers, this is your beer. Cole (282), , Alberta, Canada

The nose tells you all you need to know: punishing hops. Pepper and basil on palate with a ginger like burn on sip. Sweet and spicy, too sweet actually. Sometimes more is just more. edfitz (114), Toledo, Ohio, USA
