WVHouseofBeer (339), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA Jun 19, 2009 Pours gold with white head and good lacing. Aroma and taste is very citrusy with lots of hops but not quite as bitter as some double IPAs. This is my favorite beer that I have had from Lagunitas, and a great double IPA. TChrome (1298), Bedford, Texas, USA Jun 18, 2009 These are the the kind of beers I love. Beer pours dark, honey color with a big, totally retained off white head. Aroma is massive with layers of pine and grapefruit more pine and grapefruit. Flavor is citric bitter with none of the anoying cloying sweetness of some imperial IPAs. This is an excellent beer and rates with some of the greats!@ dkoonce (880), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA Jun 18, 2009 Excellent IIPA, with a heavy body and appreciable bitterness. The aroma is heavy with piney resin. The heavy body hides the bitterness until the finish. jmcguire1969 (149), Lafayette, Colorado, USA Jun 18, 2009 Delicious! Bomber from BevMo in CA. The benefit of business travel is getting to explore the local grog. This one is fantastic! Not too bitter but a ton of aroma and flavor-of-the-flower...HOPS RULE!! drainey (231), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 17, 2009 22 oz. bomber. Poured a bright orange/gold with a small white head. Aroma could almost have been grapefruit juice - citrus, citrus, citrus. Flavor had a very nice hop bite, but little else. I almost felt like it was an American macrobrew with a hop finish. Fairly tasty, easy to drink, but I didn’t think it was anything special. 41cubs (131), , New Jersey, USA Jun 16, 2009 This is an example of my ignorance. I was looking for a funky saison-esque type IIPA in this due to the name but got none of that. Nice beer although kind of standard fare with the only big difference in flavor or taste that I gathered was the forward presence of grassiness existing right along with the bitter citrus (no floral or sweet citrus here at all). Mouthfeel is great though, with the carbonation only detectable when you swallow. The rest of the time it has a weighty simple syrup feel. Nice beer, and very drinkable for the style. Thanks Lagunitas. 2009 22oz. pinkzambia (986), Boise, Idaho, USA Jun 16, 2009 Tap @ Porky’s - San Leandro: Dark gold color with a white head and sticky lacing. Super hoppy aromas of the farm like wet hay, pine, light juniper and white vinegar. The taste is super hoppy - hay, fermaldyhyde and the strong alcohol taste rises up through the mouth and into the nasal cavity with a slight burn. It has a great bitter aftertaste and not as sweet as some 2IPA’s. scoobyluv (486), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Jun 16, 2009 amber color with a thin white head. smell of pine and apricots. it does indeed have a bitter finish but not as impressive as i would like. it’s not a bad beer beer but i don’t see the 99th percentile. i’ve had much better
