topherh (878), Kearney, Missouri, USA Jun 13, 2009 Bottle pours golden with a small white head. Aroma of citrusy hops. Flavor is lots of hop and citrusy fruits. Easier on the palette than I expected. DerWeg (748), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 12, 2009 Fantastic big fruity citrusy & pine hop aromas that are nicely followed through in flavors. Peach and dry-apricot. Has a nice citrusy sweetness, aroma a bit of earthy wildness, all in the hops. Finish is softly green and lightly bitter without over-riding the subtle tastes and aromas, great balancing act. Kind of pineapple-lemon fragrance... I love the fruit character here which is from masterful use of hops against an integral supporting-role pale malt. Quintessential reason to seek IPAs. beerdetox (14), Illinois, USA Jun 12, 2009 Bottle - Wasn’t gonna try it but glad I did. I thought it would be good but it is better than I anticipated. Just a good solid beer! Nice aroma, color, flavor. Cheers! BVery (446), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA Jun 12, 2009 BOTTLE: clear orange pour, citrus hop nose. Taste is grapefruit, hop, nice bold but balanced hop profile, and not too thin on the palate. A notch down from Maximus in my opinion, but very good nonetheless. vtafro (452), , New Jersey, USA Jun 12, 2009 Cask. The IIPA is not overpowering hoppy for having 100+ IBUs. Flavor doesn’t bite like other uber hopped beers. Great aroma, nice beer. beerfest5 (128), Simsbury, Connecticut, USA Jun 11, 2009 with that many IBU’s I was kind of expecting my head to pop off, but it was way more mild than i thought. great beer, if you like hoppy beers rudolf (1734), Buffalo, New York, USA Jun 11, 2009 Uh. I don’t know that what I wrote is appropriate to post here. Something about Columbus sailing the ocean blue & discovering N. American hops, then making a beer with them. Except the original review had a lot of expletives. This beer smells like weed, cat piss & caramel (its a good thing!) and tastes like heaven. Tingly pine, mango, malt. Wonderfully hoppy finish with some nice lighter caramel. petematte46 (212), Dallas, Texas, USA Jun 11, 2009 A pleasant surprise from Lagunitas. I was hoping for a new refreshing IPA this summer and I got one. Thin body, kinda reminds me of Pliny or Alpine Nelson IPA. Clean, crisp with nice citrus and hops. Well balanced, makes me want to come back for more. It could use a stronger dry hop for a bigger nose. Well done Lagunitas!
