I thought it would be good but it is better than I anticipated. Just a good solid beer! Nice aroma, color, flavor. Cheers! BVery (461), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 12, 2009 BOTTLE: clear orange pour, citrus hop nose. Taste is grapefruit, hop, nice bold but balanced hop profile, and not too thin on the palate. A notch down from Maximus in my opinion, but very good nonetheless. vtafro (469), , New Jersey, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 11, 2009 Uh. I don’t know that what I wrote is appropriate to post here. Something about Columbus sailing the ocean blue & discovering N. American hops, then making a beer with them. Except the original review had a lot of expletives. This beer smells like weed, cat piss & caramel (its a good thing!) and tastes like heaven. Tingly pine, mango, malt. Wonderfully hoppy finish with some nice lighter caramel. petematte46 (218), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 11, 2009 A pleasant surprise from Lagunitas. I was hoping for a new refreshing IPA this summer and I got one. Thin body, kinda reminds me of Pliny or Alpine Nelson IPA. Clean, crisp with nice citrus and hops. Well balanced, makes me want to come back for more. It could use a stronger dry hop for a bigger nose. Well done Lagunitas! FROTHINGSLOSH (1981), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 11, 2009 Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a vivid amber color with a large yellow-white head. The aroma was sweet, fruity and strongly leafy floral hops with just a hint of pine. The flavor was dryish, tangy and bitter with notes of caramel, nut, pine and floral & fruity hops. The finish was long and bitter leafy hops. One dimensional and fairly mild for a double IPA. Decent. Sregnar35 (729), Rotterdam, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 11, 2009 Good but not great. Pours a nice orangey color with an amazing hop aroma. Flavor is hoppy but nothing like a stone or hop devil even. A bit thin considering it’s size as a beer.
