Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a vivid amber color with a large yellow-white head. The aroma was sweet, fruity and strongly leafy floral hops with just a hint of pine. The flavor was dryish, tangy and bitter with notes of caramel, nut, pine and floral & fruity hops. The finish was long and bitter leafy hops. One dimensional and fairly mild for a double IPA. Decent.

Good but not great. Pours a nice orangey color with an amazing hop aroma. Flavor is hoppy but nothing like a stone or hop devil even. A bit thin considering it’s size as a beer.

I was anticipating something really hoppy. But I had a Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA earlier today, so this Hop Stoopid was a slight disappointment. Yes it’s good like they say, but its bitterness is a bit oversold.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a clear orange with an off-white head of enormous proportions. Great head retention! Perfume, ripe fruit, pine, resin, grass, and slight floral notes fill out the nose. Medium carbonation with a medium rich, slightly sticky mouthfeel. Pineapple, peach, honey, a bit of earthy malt, grass, and spruce on the palate. Strong bitterness to balance out the hefty malt sweetness. It may have 100+ IBUs, but it balances pretty damn well. Great lacing all the way down the glass. This is one of the best IIPAs I’ve ever had.

bottle picked up at midway in denton tx. WOW did i just really pay 5 bucks for this beauty? poured a gold with a white-off white head that fades away. aroma was nice with caramel, pine, citrus, and some peach or nectarine. flavor was almost as equally as impressive as the aroma. flavor was pine, pine, and more pine with a dandilion juice type bitter in the end. body was full with medium-high carbonation with a slick type feel to it. i was truly amazed at the quality of this beer for the price.

OK so this brew is hopefully not one of them I’m going to stuff as many IBUs in this as a can and who cares how the flavor turns out, brews. Pours golden with a large white head. Aroma is hops as expected, mostly piny sticky hops which is the best kind imo. Some grapefruit and peach wich is nice. This brew is hoppy, a little more bitter than a PtE which I just had, but a solid malt flavor to keep it from being overbearing. This hop bomb deserves to be in the elite with the x2IPAs as they’ve managed to balance bitterness with flavor and some sweetness in there as well. Not quite as good as PtE but close. Good Job Lagunitas, this is easily the best I’ve had from this brewery.

well, they clocked over 100 IBU’s on this uber-hopped heady brew....freakin’ ridiculous how these guys continue to push the boundaries of brewing...move over Stone, Lagunitas has officially become Cali-numero-uno! huge malty texture balance the stupid amount of hop addition. classic caramel mid-palate. the penultimate dry, crispy finish leaves me wondering how they did it? thank you, may i have another?

THOUGHTS: Wow. I didn’t even know they bottled this when I saw it in the store. And boy was it ever hoppy, but not overly bitter. There was enough malt backbone to make all those IBUs tolerable. It was like Weyerbacher Double Simcoe when it comes to the intensity of hop flavors without being overly bitter. Not that the too taste the same. One of the most unique hop aromas I’ve ever come across. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, medium to dark orangey amber with an average off-white head that mostly diminished and left excellent lacing. The aroma was light to moderate caramel malt, moderate to heavy pine resin, grapefruit, orange and almost slightly minty hops, honey and sort of a Pine Sol aroma. The initial flavor was sweet and bitter; while the finish was lightly sweet and a little more bitter with a long duration. There was caramel, honey, lemon, grapefruit, orange, pine and resinous hops. Great balance. The medium to full body was sort of creamy, but also oily and then dry with fizzy carbonation and a light astringent and light alcoholic finish.
