Aroma full of malts and hops, subtle citrus on the back end. Plenty of sweet malt to support the hoppiness. This doesn't have the fruity, citrusy hop character of more refined IPAs; malt reigns supreme. Not sure how fresh this bottle is but I'd guess it's at least 2-3 months, yet this is still quite tasty. And at $5/bomber (in Manhattan!), this is easily one of the best values in beer.

Clear light orange with a good frothy white head and lacing. Smells of pineapple and citrus with evergreen. Taste is tropical with pine and a lot of bitterness. Does have a bit of sweetness but finishes with mainly with a piney bitter. Mouthfeel is somewhat oily and light/medium bodied with high carbonation. Not the DIPA for me with bitterness being too prevalent over other tastes. ---Jeremy H

Appearance is golden and cloudy, with minimal slightly off white foam cap that dissipated fairly quickly. Aroma is typical for IPA with more earthy and pine tones, not as intense or enjoyable as some other high IBU IPAs. Taste is sweet malt at first with an immediate bitter kick that lasts long thru the finish. Not entirely balanced as the hops overpower the malt base, and I honestly expected more from this. Might not have been at optimal freshness.

2013 bottle to snifter. Light copper color with a foamy white head. Aroma is evergreen with pineapple and a little cat pee. Taste is malt up front with no sweetness and a big grassy bitterness that builds on the tongue and leaves an astringent aftertaste. Thin to medium mouthfeel. Tastes a little unbalanced. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Ericular (229) - Minnesota, USA - MAR 27, 2013
UPDATED: APR 4, 2013 Pours a clear gold with pillowy white head that’s not going anywhere, endless bubbles, and excellent lacing. Aroma is mellow citrus, a little pine, and bready malts. Swirling gives off a lot of rich sweetness. Taste is sharp hops - citrus, pine, and grass - then some moderate bitterness in the middle, with more of a bready aftertaste. Palate is medium bodied and just a little dry. No detectable alcohol. A great double IPA.

22 oz. bottle. Pours amber color with a white head. Very balanced, dry and hoppy on the finish. Awesome DIPA.

Pours a clear gold with a small white head and excellent lacing. Scents of pine and earth, with herbal touches of grass. Light, sticky body with good carbonation. Solid hop bitterness that’s tempered with malt to give it a earthy flavor that’s a little different, but good nonetheless.

This is excellent, the way double IPAs should taste. I hate to give Californian IPAs higher ratings than our own up here in the upper reaches of the PNW but it’s true. Cream and resinous mouthfeel that lifts an earth and citrus nose to higher heights... I think it’s the earth in the background that does it. But it’s just a beautiful drink. Maybe a "standard" and no rarity but deserves all the praise it gets.

Beautiful amber-gold colour, white head, heavy citrus nose, and deep hop flavour with a number of overtones. Advertised as ’face melting hops’ but actually this is a very drinkable, very delicious, very hoppy IPA. I’d drink this everyday if I could. Fabulous beer.
