| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Apr 20, 2009 Bottle. Stone IPA glass. Copper color with small white head that dissipates quickly. A tremendous citrus aroma full of tangerine, grapefruit, orange and lemon assaults the nose. Really enjoyable. As it warms up, some malt sweetness comes through. Flavor is full of citrus with a little pine and herbal notes. Biscuit malt shows up later. Not a palate wrecker by any means as bitterness is restrained. Nicely carbonated but a little watery. Less sweet then other DIPAs, which is a good thing. ghawener (953), San Salvador, El Salvador
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 19, 2009 Bottle: Drank with my old man over dinner, he brought it back to El Salvador from San Diego, CA. IPAs are quickly becoming my favorites and this brew is great. Floral aroma with citrus, grassy, herbal notes. Taste is oily and resin bitter, starts hoppy and lets malts come through as it warms. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 19, 2009 Bottle Pours a clear light amber with a good lasting white head. The head produces very good lacing. Has a good healthy aroma of pine and grapefruit. Has good carbination and a wonderful mouthfeel. A watery texture and a medium body. This has awesome flavors and a good bitterness. A good finish. As an IPA lover I really enjoyed this one. Edmoe (126), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 18, 2009 Amber pour with 1 finger of white head. Pronounced hop aroma of pine and citrus, perhaps a tad strong. Has a nice hoppy flavor that parallels the aroma, although the aroma does overpower a little. Clean finish. Nice body. Liked this beer but not my favorite double IPA. zizzybalubba (357), Elizabeth City, North Carolina, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 17, 2009 22 oz. bottle from Grape & Gourmet. Pours dark orange with a thin white head. Big piney hop aroma that does not fade quickly. Flavor is pine and grapefruit. Moderate malt sweetness. The palate is a bit thin, not the sticky type of DIPA I am used to. Overall the flavor is certainly there but the palate lacks a bit. An excellent DIPA and probably the best offering from Lagunitas I have had to date. yemenmocha (354), Glendale, Arizona, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 17, 2009 Pours light orange/golden with white head that retains well.
Nose is a light citrusy bliss, aimed towards lemon and ruby red grapefruit.
On the palate the ruby red grapefruit comes through, with delightful tartness, and other miscellaneous tropical fruits in the background. The mouthpuckering grapefruit never leaves center stage, however. Gentle biscuity malt is in the balance, but overall this is one whopper of a citrusy IPA. freekyp (900), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Apr 16, 2009 I am truly surprised at the 99 overall rating on this beer. While it is a good DIPA, I feel it lacks the tongue coating resiny hop character of others in the Lagunitas line. It does sport an amazing citrus hop aroma and ample bitterness, and the lightly sweet malt backbone adequetly mitigates the bitterness, but the finish is quickly receding and I miss the long oily hop finish of its brethren. unclemattie (2401), Georgia, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 15, 2009 22oz twist-off bottle. Old label, 8.2% version. Pours a hazy orange with a creamy white head. Great lace. Awesome hop aromas. Big hop. Nice pine and a chunk of citrus. Lots of caramel. Mostly those good ole American Hops. Flavor a bold, rich caramel malt body. Sticky mouthfeel, just the way an DIPA should be. Very resiny. Very bitter, high IBUs. Bitter glands on the palate are in overdrive right now. Very smooth, creamy, and well balanced. Heavenly. I THINK I AM NOW STOOPID. I should pick up some more bottles and make a nice spicy goulash with it. So good and soo inexpensive!
