KyotoLefty (1371), Kyoto, Japan Mar 28, 2009 1 ½ year old bottle, slightly oxidized seeming, with a great loss of hop character. This should be drank young! Caramel, sweet aroma with a bit of stinky funk. Rather light, fruity, flavor that is very refreshing. Honey taste as well. Aftertaste is rather boring, lost, I think, in time. I’d like to try this fresh. HonkeyBra (1279), Lemont, Illinois, USA Mar 28, 2009 Dark orange pour with sticky, white head. Aroma is like snorting hops. Pine, citrus, gross, etc. Smooth, resiny flavor with big hop bite. Finishes with some caramel and pine. Much better than MAXIMUS. The hops in here are really impressive. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA Mar 28, 2009 Bottle from my buddy in Oregon. Thanks Rob. Pours out a reddish brown color with a white head on it. Smell is very hoppy, pine, grass, the works. Little to no alcohol detected here. Taste is smooth and refreshing for a double IPA. Plenty of hops and very fresh hops make this one a kicker. A really solid DIPA, and I am glad I found it locally too, year round release I hope? Probably one of the closest things to hopslam that I can buy now. Good stuff. zappafan99 (462), Ascension Island Mar 28, 2009 Taste 3/9 bottle. Looks: Copper bottom with a thick white foam. Aroma: Lots of floral hops and sweet malt. Taste: One of the better hop heavy beers I’ve had. A great deal when the cost is added in. SDalkoholic (1186), Chula Vista, California, USA Mar 28, 2009 Bottle from South Bay Drugs: After a few years of not being able to find this beer, no matter how common it was, I eventually have got my hands on one. Pours a solid golden hue topped with a thick lather of puffy white foaming. Aroma boasts a bold and up front olfaction of citrus based hops along with a fresh scent of sticky green plant. Decent amounts of bitter hops and tangy citrus play a key role in the flavor department as well as after note of metallic finish. For the price this is a good beer to be had and enjoyed plus the name of the beer sounds funky and fits right. TheBeerGod (3143), Newport News, Virginia, USA Mar 27, 2009 Bottle. Simply called Hop Stoopid. ABV is listed at 7.7% on the label. Translucent shimmering amber. Short, fading white head. Spotty lacing. Aroma is HUGE hops notes - pine resin, citrus oils, floral notes and some caramel notes. Taste is oily hops, light spicy notes, pine resin, grapefruit juice, orange peel, caramel, light toffee notes and floral notes. Body is lighter than expected but very oily and herbal. Mint like in spots and very clean feeling on the palate despite its abrasive bitterness. Finishes with strong pine needle, citrus juice, orange peel, grapefruit pulp, toffee, light caramel and a bit of pear. Lots of floral notes and light spicy hops as well. ditmier (1023), Boise, Idaho, USA Mar 27, 2009 2009 Bottle - thanks stefanje! - Pours a bright orange with a frothy off white head, generous lacing...intoxicating aroma of pine resin, grapefruit, hop florals, sticky toffee?...flavour is a great balance of citrus and sweets, not as bitter as I expected, but incredibly well put together...finish is like citrus rind with a fleeting bitterness...good stuff CharlesDarwin (1823), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Mar 26, 2009 22oz Bottle. A heavily limey aroma rises from the glass with fresh zest, a bit of gin, and some rosemary. Herbal and piney. Pours a clear pale copper, mostly gold with a white rim. Flavor is softer, but continues in an herbal and increasingly more floral fruit, towards raspberries and pears. A slightly toothy malt plays off the hops well. I want a little more intensity, but this is very good. Soft, supple and with some minerals. Lots of fruit character. Alcohol non-existent. This is very enjoyable.
