Syd (888), Waconia, Minnesota, USA Mar 20, 2009 1 Pint 6 Oz bottle pours a crystal clear light copper with a big sustaining head and decent lace. The aroma is pine resin, grapefruit, and some malt. The flavor is quite hop forward, with some underlying sweetness. The palate is lively and significant. Overall, this is quite good. ksurkin (354), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Mar 20, 2009 Updated: Apr 6, 2009bomber from Grape & Gourmet. pours a perfectly clear, golden copper, with a thin, bubbly, white head and solid lacing. aroma is simply amazing. big, piney, resinous hops, sweet grapefruit, pineapple, apricot and peach, with a touch of unique spicy/peppery and floral notes. flavor is fantastic as well. amazingly fresh, citrus, and piney hops dominate with sweeter fruit notes of peach, pear, and honeydew peaking through. sweet, slightly bready caramel malts add excellent balance. palate is extremely smooth with great bitterness and barely a hint of alcohol. overall, and oustanding DIPA and one hell of a deal at $4.99 a bomber. rocbyter (902), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Mar 20, 2009 Super hoppy aroma with strong spicy yeasts. Clear orange color with a medium white head. Hop flavor throughout sweet in the beginning and pretty bitter in the finish. I’m impressed with the quality of the hop extract but I think its missing something in the bitterness. The mix of an IPA and a farmhouse is amazing. imadeadguy (378), back in NJ!, New Jersey, USA Mar 19, 2009 Bomber. Pour is light amber with small lacy white head. Aromas of piney hops, citrus, and some caramel. Flavor is very fruity with pear, melon, citrus, pine resin, and the finish is smooth. No alcohol present at all and damn what a nice brew. spikester (602), Salem, Oregon, USA Mar 19, 2009 Updated: Apr 1, 2009Clear dark amber with a very large three finger off white head. Very good amount of lacings. Aroma is big piney resinous hops. Taste is dark leathery citrus grapefruit orange hops with a very substantial sweet rich malts. Mouthfeel is excellent and it is an easy drinker in spite of the 7.7% (on the label) abv. Exceptional beer. One of my new favorites in this style. Buy it quick before the word gets out about this delicious beer. cathcacr (586), Portland, Oregon, USA Mar 19, 2009 Extreme hop pungency highlights every aspect of this beer, from aroma, flavor and palate right down to the appearance. Many hops died in the production of this monster, but as some evils go, it was necessary to break a few eggs to make this omelet. Extra kudos due to the brewer for its homage to a great classic rock band on its label blurb. Pungency was not my thing at the time of rating, so I may have underrated it. If hop-pungency and drying bitterness is right up your alley, you will be pleased.
Moggman (187), Columbus, Ohio, USA Mar 18, 2009 Bottle. Pours amber with a thin white/off white head. Aroma is big grapefruit hops, with yeasty undertones. Flavor is very hoppy, with notes of pine and grapefruit. Slightly sweet malty notes in the finish, but this one is definitely very hoppy. JasonG (700), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Mar 18, 2009 22 oz bottle - pours a crystal clear very light yellow/orange color with smallish white head. Aroma is pretty full of crisp, pungent, grapefruity hops, notes of cilantro and garlic. Flavor is fairly hoppy, piney and grapefruity, with a hint of caramel sweetness. Finish is farily balanced, but has a touch of metallic bitterness at the very finish. A fairly nice DIPA overall.
