4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
DATE TASTED: August 29, 2013 ... GLASSWARE: Duvel snifter... OCCASION: drafting while draughting (reused pun, for draft number 2)--a big-bodied beer for a big boy draft!... APPEARANCE: beautiful soft orange with a steady, centered eruption of bubbles; thick, creamy head is staunch and off-white--yes, perfect... AROMA: the shock and awe of the IBUs is on display, with the majority of the scent of a pine cone slicing through an orange, mango and pineapple simultaneously into a hop bomb shish kebob; as advertised ...PALATE: creamy, stirring thickness with an immediate warmth that seers, then cradles the throat; balanced overall, with a reasonable aftertaste...TASTE: delicious citrus (plum and pineapple pervade) are unrelenting; the alcohol metes its energy out as the glass drains; the aftertaste of funky yeast is a little difficult to take pleasure in... not knowledgeable enough to construe the good news/bad news of the labelís CO2 hop extraction explanation, I defer to my senses and buy into its overt toasty malt/hop balance, mostly--not as much as Adrian Peterson being my #1 pick... OVERALL: this beer is BIG, blessed with a peripheral attractiveness and a substance that follows up reasonably on its initial promise...impossible to remove the hop from the teeth, like the Altoid of the beer world...worth the bomber and its relatively fair price tag...

Note: 22oz. bomber bottle with the OLD label, so this one has been sitting around at Weis Marketís, which just opened a month ago!.......Pours clear deep amber, nice tight 2 inch head. Loads of lacing and good retention. Aroma of citrus and pine. Taste is very bitter with a nice caramel background. Full bodied, lively carbonation, sticky resin mouth feel. Finishes bitter and long. Tasting notes of pink grapefruit, spruce, lemon, caramel, mango, resin and grass. I thought this was mighty good, Iíll have to get a fresher one and compare.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
clear light amber pour with white head. Appearance is good but taste is better.
Aroma is ovewhelmed by the hops. Taste is hoppy but surprisingly not bitter at all (as one would expect). It also tastes as less than 8% ABV beer to me, the hops make it seem a milder beer than it really is.

650 ml bottle shared by Werckmeister. Thanks a lot Stefan!
Orange, amber, clear body, with a medium, creamy, off-white head.
Aroma with wonderful, distinct pine notes, grapefruit, peach, orange zest, biscuit, honey.
Taste with about the same aromas and some additional black tea notes.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes bitter, but smooth, piney, fruity, also a bit malty.
Very tasty! A perfectly balanced blend of fresh, piney and fruity hops and very smooth malts. One of those beers, where you get the impression of a walk in a pine forest, when you smell it.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber, fresh as an import gets in Dublin: good work all round from importers etc. Hazy amber/orange, nice white head. Big pine and grapefruit on the nose, some good blood orange and candied fruit, good brioche sweetness in there too. Taste gives great pine sap and grapefruit, blood orange, brioche, pine needles. Solid bitterness, good balance. Lovely stuff.

ENG: 650ml bottle brought by a friend from Vancouver, poured into the Teku glass. Golden-copper, a bit opalescent color with huge, white head and strong lacing. Looks beautiful. Aromas are tropical, mango, citrus, grapefruits. Amazing aromas, reminds me of Four Winds - Vexillum (from BC, Canada). Tastes sweety, but not too overwhelmingly, strongly tropical fruity with grapefruits and nice hoppiness. Finishes with pleasant dryíish bitter aftertaste. Medium carbonation, medium bodied. Very well balanced. Overall very good beer, strongly fruity, a bit sweety, but with bitter in balance. One of the best, easy drinkable DIPAís Iíve tried so far. Strongly recommend!
PL: Butelka 650ml przywieziona przez kolegę z Vancouver, przelana do Teku. Złocisto-miedziana, nieco opalizująca barwa, obfita, jasna piana, duży lacing. Wygląda pięknie. Aromaty tropikalne, mango, cytrusy, grejpfruty. Wspaniale pachnie, przypomina mi nieco piwo o nazwie Vexillum z browaru Four Winds (z BC, w Kanadzie). Polecam!

2.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Wow. The aroma on this one is really amped up with hops. I took a deep inhalation and actually sneezed! LOL! Coincidence? Probably. :D Anyway, the head thins pretty quickly, but doesnít fade. The body is one fine shade of gold. The taste is ALL hops here. If youíre sick of hoppy beers or are trying to convert a newbie to craft beer, break them in on something else like Hop Czar or Stoneís Delicious IPA. This is ONE hoppy mofo. I mean, thereís no citrus flavor to distract you from the overwhelming hoptitude. Thereís a malt taste in there, but even here, the hops beat the living crap out of it and leave it for dead. The palate is brutalized with bitterness, though at least itís a crisp assault. Whatís left for a good freakiní long time is the bitterness. Bitter, bitter, bitter. Some time later...bitter still. I donít know, friends, my mouth felt cheap, dirty and used and not exactly in a good way. As unique as this busty amazon in tight, cheap, black vinyl is, Iíd rather go for the girl next door. I wonít have to get on my tippy toes to kiss her ígood nightí and sheíll do it with finesse. I suppose someone had to go too far and for me, this one was it. Itís well done, but itís a headboard breaking, one-trick pony. UPDATE on the RE-RATE: Iím sorry guys and gals, but as I progressed through the bomber of this stuff, the bitterness seemed to have this cumulative effect on me and I really had to admit that I enjoyed this less and less as I went along. I would rather have powered through a warm Heineken that had been left in the sun. Itís just not for me. :P

Huge citrus-pine aroma in an amber pour. Full bodied flavour is nicely hop forward with a clean sustained finish to match.
