UPDATED: MAY 21, 2010 22-oz bottle. Prominent hop nose, the majority caramel with pine, some still-bright citrus. Some fresh-bready notes as well as apricot. Clear, gradient golden-orange-amber body with consistent carbonation and a meringue, rocky, awesomely spoonable off-white head. Taste is very dry and strong in bitterness, but not as aggressive as some other IPAs, no resin or harshness, never would have guessed 100+ IBU. Honey and very light hay, no hint of alcohol. Apricot again, faint tangerine. Soft, smooth creamy notes and some residual malt sweetness, a little bit of a wild tang and some non-standard pale ale yeast notes. Mouthfeel is just super velvety, medium-full body. The IBU’s show themselves in the aftertaste as the bitterness hunkers down and gets nasty. A great drinking experience and a very pleasant surprise! I already admire Lagunitas for the terrific quality/price ration in their products. This brew is a standout in the lineup. Very good!

Bon goût de houblon, un peu sèche. Mais un petit goût de fruits sucrés genre fraise que j’aime moins. Assez unique en son genre.

Aroma of grapefruit, pine needles, some dank resin, and when I initially opened it I sensed more of a sweet honeydew melon aroma. Taste is bitter grapefruit with some sweet caramel cereal malts just after. I don’t usually comment on appearance.....but it is striking on the beer; clear golden honey with nice lacing and several constant streams of small tight bubbles:

Super hoppy pine aroma. Pours clear orange with a thin white head. Lots of hops up front with a malty finish.

Draft at Moriartys. Hazy orange amber with some soft white foam that left lace. Tangerine pineapple resin aroma. Lots of well blended hop flavors. Just enough sweet blonde malts for balance. Chanterelles. Clementines. Shortbread. Mangos. Complex hop notes. Feels both huge and delicate. Easy drinking for such a high-hopped brew.

Note: 22oz. bomber bottle with the OLD label, so this one has been sitting around at Weis Market’s, which just opened a month ago!.......Pours clear deep amber, nice tight 2 inch head. Loads of lacing and good retention. Aroma of citrus and pine. Taste is very bitter with a nice caramel background. Full bodied, lively carbonation, sticky resin mouth feel. Finishes bitter and long. Tasting notes of pink grapefruit, spruce, lemon, caramel, mango, resin and grass. I thought this was mighty good, I’ll have to get a fresher one and compare.

clear light amber pour with white head. Appearance is good but taste is better. Aroma is ovewhelmed by the hops. Taste is hoppy but surprisingly not bitter at all (as one would expect). It also tastes as less than 8% ABV beer to me, the hops make it seem a milder beer than it really is.

650 ml bottle shared by Werckmeister. Thanks a lot Stefan!
Orange, amber, clear body, with a medium, creamy, off-white head.
Aroma with wonderful, distinct pine notes, grapefruit, peach, orange zest, biscuit, honey.
Taste with about the same aromas and some additional black tea notes.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes bitter, but smooth, piney, fruity, also a bit malty.

Very tasty! A perfectly balanced blend of fresh, piney and fruity hops and very smooth malts. One of those beers, where you get the impression of a walk in a pine forest, when you smell it.
