4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAY 21, 2010 22-oz bottle. Prominent hop nose, the majority caramel with pine, some still-bright citrus. Some fresh-bready notes as well as apricot. Clear, gradient golden-orange-amber body with consistent carbonation and a meringue, rocky, awesomely spoonable off-white head. Taste is very dry and strong in bitterness, but not as aggressive as some other IPAs, no resin or harshness, never would have guessed 100+ IBU. Honey and very light hay, no hint of alcohol. Apricot again, faint tangerine. Soft, smooth creamy notes and some residual malt sweetness, a little bit of a wild tang and some non-standard pale ale yeast notes. Mouthfeel is just super velvety, medium-full body. The IBU’s show themselves in the aftertaste as the bitterness hunkers down and gets nasty. A great drinking experience and a very pleasant surprise! I already admire Lagunitas for the terrific quality/price ration in their products. This brew is a standout in the lineup. Very good!

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Deliciosa.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Always a solid go-to. Finish doesn't have as much sweetness or caramel flavors that other double IPA's have.

Really good and the bottle had some age on it. Aroma was piney and dank. Light copper color with a nice faint head. Medium weight with sustainable carbonation. Well blended with earthy malt and a mild sweet undertone. Bitterness was bold and wonderful.

22 oz bomber: Dark golden-orange color. Dank grassy, sweet onion, gummy bear fruit hop aroma, little else for sure. Medium-full mouthfeel with a good amount of sweetness that gives way to distinct pine needle hops; slight alcoholic burn.

ours a deep dark orangish amber color. Aromas of big hop action, sweet malts, and more hops. Flavor has some bready malty tastes with nice grapefruit and floral hop taste. This is one huge bitter hoppy bastard.
