UPDATED: MAY 21, 2010 22-oz bottle. Prominent hop nose, the majority caramel with pine, some still-bright citrus. Some fresh-bready notes as well as apricot. Clear, gradient golden-orange-amber body with consistent carbonation and a meringue, rocky, awesomely spoonable off-white head. Taste is very dry and strong in bitterness, but not as aggressive as some other IPAs, no resin or harshness, never would have guessed 100+ IBU. Honey and very light hay, no hint of alcohol. Apricot again, faint tangerine. Soft, smooth creamy notes and some residual malt sweetness, a little bit of a wild tang and some non-standard pale ale yeast notes. Mouthfeel is just super velvety, medium-full body. The IBU’s show themselves in the aftertaste as the bitterness hunkers down and gets nasty. A great drinking experience and a very pleasant surprise! I already admire Lagunitas for the terrific quality/price ration in their products. This brew is a standout in the lineup. Very good!

clear amber color; crisp, citrusy, grapefruit hop aroma; a huge wallup of citrus hops up front with a slightly sweet bready malt background; surprisingly, not overly alcoholic or bitter for a beer that measures in at 8.5% and 102 IBU’s; actually quite smooth and fairly easy drinking

This beer is all over the place. Grassy, honey and caramel malt-what? Minimal floral aromas, tobacco and tea are far way in the background. Bitterness is 102 IBU-really? Overrated by a country mile.

I didn't take any extra notes when I tried this beer for the first time but I'm gonna try it again and update my comments. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a straw color with white head. Nice hop aromas and flavors, a little too bitter for me

Pours gold-blonde with a slight white head. Aroma is the expected bouquet of hops and some green apple, with a touch of bread. Flavor is a standard but well-made IPA, with plenty of well balanced hops and completely hidden alcohol. Carbonation is pretty high for the style, and the finish is long and sweet. It’s a good IPA, yes, but not as aggressive as something with this name should be, IMO.

Bomber poured a clear deep golden hue w/ large rocky white head with loads of sticky lacing. Bold sweet citrus hop aromas. Initial flavor is light sweet w/ a bold bitter finish. Tastes are hay, malt, orange, pine, straw, and grapefruit. Full bodied and creamy mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tons of citrus and some pine. Good malt backbone. Pours golden amber with pillow of head. Very bitter. Booze well hidden. Slick mouthfeel. Good mouthful of beer, and even better price. Bottle from Whole Foods.

Pours a deep orange - amber with a thin white head. Nice pine resin aroma that is strong but not overpowering, also somewhat sweet and fruity. Very smooth with a slightly thick body. Taste is mostly hops with a mild citus flavor. There is a dry and mild bitterness on the roof of the mouth but much less bitter than I had expected. Finishes smooth leaving a very nice lingering flavor. Reminds me of "A Little Sumpin’ Extra" and maybe even better in some aspects. Very enjoyable and refreshing, not harsh at all.

Bottled. Has a light cooper brown. Great carbonation. Has a bold citrus hops taste upfront. Finishes with a dry piney sweet. Excellent imperial IPA.
