3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very hop-forward brew from lagunitas, reminiscent of hop stoopid. Pale yellow with minimal malt backbone, yet a surprisingly well rounded hop profile that lacks the big, puckering punch of some other hop bombs. Still, assertively hoppy, with wonderful notes of grapcitrus, lemon, and other citrus.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottled Mid-November, 2011
A: honey golden ale with a finger of white foam over crystal clear ale. A sheet of white resides and leaves soapy residue.
S: Grapefruit, lemons, pine, resin, bubble gum, so many yummy hops. This is so far, excellent.
T: Sweet with lemons, grapefruit, juicy fruit.
M: A bit thin with hi carb and fairly dry.
O: Really a good beer. Gonna have more of this.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a translucent vibrant gold with a bit of orange, and a white fluffy head. Lacing is good. Smell is rye malt and tons of musty piney west coast hops. Taste is sweet upfront with good hop bitterness and rye bite at the end. Really good brew, drinks like a rye IPA. Not sure why RB lists it as a strong ale.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle at home. Pours golden with a big white head. Huge aroma of citrus and pine. Taste is sweet with plenty of bitter hoppiness. Good carbonation. Dry bitter finish. This is the Brown Shugga Substitute. Nice, but I prefer the Brown Shugga or the Lil Sumpin’ Sumpin’.

Bottle at home, 01/12/13, thanks to an IP with Dadmond - cheers James!
Lively pourings - clear golden amber with a mahoosive off white head. This fella looks the bollocks !
Nose is caramel malt, hop presence, carmalised pineapple, brown sugar, biscuit crumble, waft of booze.
Taste comprises sweet candied sugars, bitter tropicals notes, rich caramel fudge, candied orange peel, sweet stuff mild sugar rush.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, bitter sweet finish.
Decent American strong, a little sweet in places but drinkable stuff.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a bottle. Found this one left over from a 4 pack in my basement. It’s well past it’s prime, but drank some fresh ones back in the day, but never rated - so some of this will have to be from memory. Pours hazy orange/gold amber with foamy off-white head; disipates to a thin cap and leaves some splotchy lacing. Aroma is hoppy, but also filled with caramel malt. Also a nice dose of honey and tropical fruit. Taste is moderately sweet followed by mild bitterness (I recalled this being more bitey when fresh). Nice smooth beer with medium body and some tingly carbonation. Enjoyable beer; I look forward to getting some fresh ones this year.
