COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
AKA Holiday Ale
AKA Holiday Leftover Ale
AKA Brown Sugar Substitute

This sad holiday season we didn’t have the brewing capacity to make our favorite seasonal brew, the widely feared BrownShugga’ Ale. You see we had a couple of really good years (thank you very much) and so heading into this season while we are awaiting the January delivery of a new brewhouse we are jammin’ along brewing 80 barrels of IPA and PILS and such every 3 hours. A couple of months back we realized that since we can only brew a mere 60 barrels of Shugga’ every 5 hours, that we were seriously screwed. For every case of Shugga’ brewed, we’d short 3 cases of our favorite daily beers. It’s a drag. This year, we brewed something that we think is also cool and brews more like our daily brews. The new brewhouse will help insure this kind of failure never happens again. It’s a mess that we can not brew our BrownShugga’ this year and we suck for not doing it. There is nothing cool about screwing this up this badly and we know it. Maybe we can sue our own sorry selves. There is no joy in our hearts this holiday and the best we can hope for is a quick and merciful end. F*@& us. This totally blows. Whatever. We freaking munch moldy donkey butt and we just want it to be all over...
So this substitute beer is a ‘Cereal Medley’ of Barley, Rye, Wheat, and Oats…. Full of complexishness from the 4 grains, and weighing in at 7.85% abv, Then joyously dry-hopped for that big aroma and resinous hop flavor.

Love the humorous description for the ale, but no apology needed as this is one fantastic brew. Pours a pale copper with minimal white head (left a nice ring and small island of foam in the center) and a small bit of lacing. Nice nose with pine, citrus and pineapple. Good mouthfeel due to the lively carbonation. Taste is full of hops with a good malt backbone. Somewhat resinous reminding me a bit of Maximus. Clean and crips finish with moderate lingering bitterness. Not the typical winter brew, but a nice change of pace from one of my all-time favorite breweries.

I love the story behind Sucks and what inspired its name. Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass produced a 1 finger head that is creamy white and lightly carbonated. Looks like liquid gold in the glass. The aroma is delectable with juicy pineapple and oranges with fresh cut pine in the background. A mosaic of lacing left on the glass. The flavors burst with ripe pineapple and biting citrus with a balancing act of honey sweet cereal; almost like Cheerios.

Bottle @ de Paas. Pours a clear golden beer with a nice white head on top. Aroma of resins, peaches, grapefruit. Flavor is light bitter, firm, a big malty base, sweet grainy notes and a nice long bittersweet finish. Softly carbonated, hints of cookies in the finish as well. Very decent.

Definitely smelling a fresh cut grapefruit with some bits of caramelized sugar. Dark golden color with a modest off-white head. First sip is loaded with hops. Pine, citrus, grass, spice its all there front and center. Rather dry, but there some hints of caramel and lightly toasted malt. Certainly a hop bomb, so bombs away! 11/11

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2016 Golden with a very slight haze, small frothy white head, spotty lace. Deep aroma of caramel malts and resiny hops...a welcoming sweetness. Very refreshing yet big and balanced taste. Fruits and caramel throughout, some apple, orange, white grape peel, some spice yields to a lasting bittersweet finish. Boozy as it warms.
