AKA Holiday Ale
AKA Holiday Leftover Ale
AKA Brown Sugar Substitute

This sad holiday season we didn’t have the brewing capacity to make our favorite seasonal brew, the widely feared BrownShugga’ Ale. You see we had a couple of really good years (thank you very much) and so heading into this season while we are awaiting the January delivery of a new brewhouse we are jammin’ along brewing 80 barrels of IPA and PILS and such every 3 hours. A couple of months back we realized that since we can only brew a mere 60 barrels of Shugga’ every 5 hours, that we were seriously screwed. For every case of Shugga’ brewed, we’d short 3 cases of our favorite daily beers. It’s a drag. This year, we brewed something that we think is also cool and brews more like our daily brews. The new brewhouse will help insure this kind of failure never happens again. It’s a mess that we can not brew our BrownShugga’ this year and we suck for not doing it. There is nothing cool about screwing this up this badly and we know it. Maybe we can sue our own sorry selves. There is no joy in our hearts this holiday and the best we can hope for is a quick and merciful end. F*@& us. This totally blows. Whatever. We freaking munch moldy donkey butt and we just want it to be all over...
So this substitute beer is a ‘Cereal Medley’ of Barley, Rye, Wheat, and Oats…. Full of complexishness from the 4 grains, and weighing in at 7.85% abv, Then joyously dry-hopped for that big aroma and resinous hop flavor.

Bottle at Villain & Saint. Nice copper body with slight head. Nose floral, caramel, malts, yeasty. Tastes quite malty, bitter, with hops and fruits in there as well. Really nicely done beer with so many different flavours. Great!

Such a good tasting Double IPA. I do not like how its appearance though, kind of a light color for an Imperial IPA. The taste doesn't say that at all. Drinks along the lines of a lighter Hopslam if I had to compare. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Loads of hops in this one. The one thing different about this and most other beers in its style it the alcohol is very present on the back end. A fruity floral bouquet is also nice. Well rounded.

Bottled. Very nice little concoction. Aroma of pine and toffee. Taste is similar to the nose. Very piney--almost like an IPA. Palate is medium. Finishes long and dry. Paired well with some home grilled carne asada.

A very unique brew. Lots of buttery toast, butterscotch, and caramel. Very slightly bitter with a nice balance. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. A slightly hazy golden yellow/orange lots of lace. Wheat, citrus and resin hop, detecting some pine, sap like the woods. I’ve had this a bunch now recently, not sure what it is but I’m losing interest in it, still enjoy it but I think it’s a predictable, however well done, brew.

I poured it from the bottle into a pint glass. It pours a cloudy golden color with a nice white head and lacing. The aroma is hops, booze, and burnt sugar. The taste is strong on hops with hints of booze, fruit, and brown sugar. It was flavorful. It was drinkable for the alcohol content. This was pretty good.

Very nice balanced beer, between malt and hops. Nice medium bodied beer, good easy drinking beer for being 8.0%.

Rated on 10-01-2015 (Bottle-Don Hall’s Factory-Fort Wayne, IN) This beer’s appearance is a very small beige head that mostly diminished, yellow hazy body, fast rising carbonation, some floaties, and spotty lacing. The aroma is citrus and pine hops, pineapple, grapefruit, tropical fruits, some spice, earthy, light perfume, and malt. The flavor is moderately bitter, citrus and pine hops, fruity, earthy, and malt. The mouthfeel is moderate carbonation and this beer is medium-full bodied. This is a very, very quaffable beer with a very good flavor and an enjoyable beer to rate and drink. It is worth trying and a beer I would definitely drink again and again.
