4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 kidmartinek (2560) - austin, Texas, USA - DEC 21, 2011
Smells delicious. Better than poontang. Woody flowers in a cask. Come on flow wit me. This one is light golden but resinous in color. Use your imagination. If I may bastardize the words of my bartendress, "It tastes like every other Lagunitas beer ever made!" Either way I love it. And I pray, not hope, that you flowerhounds at Lagunitas fuck up more often.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 hoosiers1994 (684) - Maryland, USA - DEC 21, 2011
Bottle pours a nice amber color with a thin white head. The aroma is amazing with resinous hops taking the profile. Taste is more IPA than American Strong with pine resin and some citrus notes. Very well balanced, but quite bitter. Body is medium to light and the beer is super well blended with all the malts. A very good complement to the pungent hops. Overall, I am pleasantly surprised by this one. Love it.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 Capa (1908) - Manama, BAHRAIN - DEC 21, 2011
Clear, pale golden with a decent size white frothy head. Highly citrus aroma, a bit of pine, light caramel malt sweetness. Medium body with decent carbonation. Flavor is powerfully citrus hopped, tropical, fruit, light sweetness, and a hint of toasted malt. Bitter finish. Not at all what I expected. Great beer.

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2012 Clear golden, with a thick, lacing, off-white head. Aroma full of grapefruit and resin, rye, and a little sweet malt. Taste is malty and a little sweet, with a solid finishing bitterness. Medium bodied. Very good.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 markwise (3834) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - DEC 21, 2011
On draft at Brass Tap in Wesley Chapel. Pours a clear gold with a white head. Nose is malt, citrus, grapefruit, bits of pine, and spices along with hints of rye. Flavor is similar- medium in body, bitter orange and kumquat with citrus all over the rye and caramel. A hint of booze around, but all in all a nice, drinkable beer.

you know what, this is actually a good beer. its big, spicy, hoppy, malty, sweet and bitter, its tasty. pours very light, drinks very hoppy and light more like a iipa or something. theres a lot of tropical, soay and astringent hops in here, all very nice. drinks well, not sure how it will age, but it seems like a celebration type beer in the aging potential category.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Drake (6600) - Ivy, Virginia, USA - DEC 20, 2011
Bottle from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville. Pours a clear amber color with a medium sized frothy white head. Fair head retention. Aroma of fruity hops with floral, citrus and tropical notes. The taste is bitter hops, berries, tropical notes, toasted grain and a resin finish. Medium bodied. Nice beer.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 illinismitty (2270) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - DEC 20, 2011
Bottle at Lush in Chicago. Pours amber gold with a white head. Floral and citrus aroma. Very pale malt backbone, and loaded with spicy and citrus hops. Dry finish, and slightly resiny. Very easy to drink. Perhaps a tad overattenuated for my tastes, as I think a little more residual sugars would make the hop flavors pop out.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 snotrocket (20) - USA - DEC 20, 2011
I agree with most, this is more along the lines of an ipa than an American Strong Ale. Pours a clean, solid gold color. Just amazing how clear this beer is. Strong fruity nose, some peaches, some pineapple. Very citric. Taste is almost the same, lemony-pineapple. Medium body that you’d think would be stickier that it is. Some of the alcohol comes through but very drinkable. Such a great beer.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 MattH (543) - California, USA - DEC 20, 2011
Bottle. Light orange pour with one inch head that quickly recedes. Aroma of pineapple really jumps out at you. Aroma also includes pine, sweet red grapefruit, and sugar. Taste is brown sugary sweet with a little hop bite. I can see why this is classified as an American Strong Ale, as the taste really is not that hoppy. This was really good. I want more.
