COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
AKA Holiday Ale
AKA Holiday Leftover Ale
AKA Brown Sugar Substitute

This sad holiday season we didn’t have the brewing capacity to make our favorite seasonal brew, the widely feared BrownShugga’ Ale. You see we had a couple of really good years (thank you very much) and so heading into this season while we are awaiting the January delivery of a new brewhouse we are jammin’ along brewing 80 barrels of IPA and PILS and such every 3 hours. A couple of months back we realized that since we can only brew a mere 60 barrels of Shugga’ every 5 hours, that we were seriously screwed. For every case of Shugga’ brewed, we’d short 3 cases of our favorite daily beers. It’s a drag. This year, we brewed something that we think is also cool and brews more like our daily brews. The new brewhouse will help insure this kind of failure never happens again. It’s a mess that we can not brew our BrownShugga’ this year and we suck for not doing it. There is nothing cool about screwing this up this badly and we know it. Maybe we can sue our own sorry selves. There is no joy in our hearts this holiday and the best we can hope for is a quick and merciful end. F*@& us. This totally blows. Whatever. We freaking munch moldy donkey butt and we just want it to be all over...
So this substitute beer is a ‘Cereal Medley’ of Barley, Rye, Wheat, and Oats…. Full of complexishness from the 4 grains, and weighing in at 7.85% abv, Then joyously dry-hopped for that big aroma and resinous hop flavor.

Bottle pours dark gold fair head. Smells tastes of hops heavy. Pine. Some mango maybe. Has nice crisp bite. Spices. Sweet at first turning bitter. It’s semi thin. Not bad at all lots of flavor. I can see why people like it but so much flavor I don’t think I’d like more then one at a time.

From a 12 bottle in Super Bowl Sunday. Pours a clear amber with a thick white head. Citrus and floral hop aromas. Smooth honey-like mouthfeel with light carbonation. Flavors of orange and grapefruit zest. Nice IPA.

Growler. Clear light amber/orange with a dense white head and some lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, candied oranges and some light cereal grain. Flavor is lots of hops with a firm bitterness, mild malt and some light bubble gum. Medium body with a long, dry, bitter finish. Fantastic beer, super fresh and hoppy.

Light, hoppy, fizzy, lots of carb. Needs more body. Also needs more flavor. Meh.

Bottle. Pours orange gold with white head. Nose and taste of peach, grapefruit, perfume, caramel malt and light resin. Hops are a bit too perfumy for my liking. Finishes dryish resin and malt with some tropical fruit. Medium body.

Bottle - dark gold with a nice head. Now this was one over the top beer. Strong citrus aroma and a grapefruit hoppy taste. Full body and a smooth finish. Excellent!

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2013 Pours a deep golden orange with a small off white head. Aroma is of citrus hops, pine, weed, tropical fruits, sweet malts, and some rye. Taste is of nice resinous citrus hops, pine, tropical fruits, sweet malts, sour rye malts, and some fresh cut grass. Has a medium body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a semi dry, pretty bitter, yet still refreshing finish. Overall, a well made and drinkable IPA that I wish would be available all year now.

Pours a clear golden color with minimal white head. Smells of citrus... Mostly grapefruit. Taste is sweet citrus and tropical fruits... There is a subtle rye spice in there as well that makes it interesting. Kind of a watery mouth feel and good carbonation. Similar drinkability to their Daytime IPA although the alcohol is considerably higher. Another good hoppy offering from Lagunitas.

Bottle. Pours golden with a lingering fluffy white head. Aroma is huge resinous and citrusy hops and tropical fruits. Taste opens with the hop profile but adds a prominent earthy/malty note. Very full and smooth palate. Very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
