AKA Holiday Ale
AKA Holiday Leftover Ale
AKA Brown Sugar Substitute

This sad holiday season we didn’t have the brewing capacity to make our favorite seasonal brew, the widely feared BrownShugga’ Ale. You see we had a couple of really good years (thank you very much) and so heading into this season while we are awaiting the January delivery of a new brewhouse we are jammin’ along brewing 80 barrels of IPA and PILS and such every 3 hours. A couple of months back we realized that since we can only brew a mere 60 barrels of Shugga’ every 5 hours, that we were seriously screwed. For every case of Shugga’ brewed, we’d short 3 cases of our favorite daily beers. It’s a drag. This year, we brewed something that we think is also cool and brews more like our daily brews. The new brewhouse will help insure this kind of failure never happens again. It’s a mess that we can not brew our BrownShugga’ this year and we suck for not doing it. There is nothing cool about screwing this up this badly and we know it. Maybe we can sue our own sorry selves. There is no joy in our hearts this holiday and the best we can hope for is a quick and merciful end. F*@& us. This totally blows. Whatever. We freaking munch moldy donkey butt and we just want it to be all over...
So this substitute beer is a ‘Cereal Medley’ of Barley, Rye, Wheat, and Oats…. Full of complexishness from the 4 grains, and weighing in at 7.85% abv, Then joyously dry-hopped for that big aroma and resinous hop flavor.

12oz bottle. Pour was a orangy copper color with a finger of head that disappeared quick but stuck to the sides. Aroma is wonderful. Full of floral and citrus goodness. A hint of caramel too. Mouth is bit sour but the grapefruit, pineapple and topical flavors burst through to a long lasting finish. Medium body. They live up to their reputation once again!

UPDATED: APR 12, 2013 Pours clear pale reddish yellow with a white head that sinks to a thin layer and great lacing. Wonderful rich aroma with floral notes of rose, citrus and butterscotch. Taste is medium bitter with light carbonation with a short bitter finish. Very nicely balanced, pretty darn good.

Hazy orange color, white head that sinks but sticks. Great aroma of fuzzy peaches and peach jolly ranchers. Flavor doesn’t quite match up. It’s got some fruit and some bitterness but its just good, not great. Little bit of alcohol, eh. People hyped this up and while its a good beer it’s not all that. I regret buying a second six pack honestly. Serving type: bottle 01-20-2013 05:33:22

Again, another brew I've had my share of, but haven't rated. This stuff is unicorn jizz. Magical elixir.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear, light orange with minimal white head. Aroma is super tropical and citrus. Loads of pineapple and mango. Taste is light bitter and light sweet. Again, a bunch of pineapple and citrus. Light bodied with a thin texture. Soft carbonation and a super long finish. Overall, awesome. One of my favorites from lagunitas.

Pours. Light golden color with citrus aroma, very nice mouthfeel with nice balance of hops and citrus notes, please keep screwing up!

Look: Nice orange body, lively carbonation. 1/2 finger white head. Smell: Apricots, citrus (lemon grass, tangerine), mild mango, tobacco, wheat/ straw notes. Taste: Apricots, flowery citrus, pine needles, biscuit sweetness, fossil alcohol before the bitter finish. Feel: Medium-light body nice active carbonation. Overall: This reminds me of a more alcoholic Sculpin, (I’m not complaining). The aroma shines bright. The alcohol flavor dampens the hops in the flavor for me. Yet it is still highly drinkable at almost 8% ABV. This brew is worthy.

Bottle from Village Wine and Spirits in Athens. Big sewery-citrus stink, swamp gas. Pale straw color. Hops + tropical fruit initial: peach. mango, some pine / weird mix in mid palate: sharp bitterness, strange maltiness (four types of grain), and even what seems like some funk / smooth aftertaste with some alc. Medium body. Extreme flavors for what really isn’t such a big beer. Doesn’t suck in the slightest.

Strong smell. Citrusy and hoppy. Would definitely buy again next season. Love the strong hops! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Spiced citrus honey marmalade malt permeating the typical lagunitas IPA hop profile. Interesting yet balanced flavors from the different grains
