3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Poured a clear medium orange color with a white head. Pleasant fruit-dominated hop aroma that included the likes of grapefruit, orange, and melon. There was also some cereal grain. Medium bodied and dryish with moderate bitterness. Pine, orange zest, and pale malt/cereal flavors.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
2L growler from Bill’s in Summerville. Mild (-er than expected) yet solid hop nose. Juicy, citrus, hop forward beer held strong w/ mild (yet solid) malt backbone. Holds it’s own against way bigger IPA/DIPA. Fukc Brown Sugar this will work...this year.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle: pours a clear bright golden with a stringy-lacing white head. Has a huge fresh resiny hoppy nose with good lightly toasted maltiness underneath and some honeydew melon character. Starts with pretty good fullness and clean malty sweetness with lots of piny hop flavor and bitter balance before a drier more bitter and lingering finish. I love the hoppy aroma, but the finish could be a little less bitter. Nonetheless, a great IPA that I hope they make more of.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at brewpub. More piney than floral hops abound in a somewhat mute fashion in this one. Very good AMA hoppy, fresh beer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear golden in color... Aroma is floral hops... Flavor is slightly watery and bready, with a nice bitter finish... Really unremarkable, not a holiday ale at all... Tastes more like a pale ale than anything... Lagunitas, you suck, bring back the Brown Shugga!!!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at Petrol Station. Pours a clear orange golden with medium frothy off white head. The aroma is floral hops and wheat. Thin mouthfeel with a dry hop and citrus with nice lingering dry finish. Hides the alcohol well, easy to drink, a very impressive American strong ale from Lagunitas.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
KILLER BEER! Huge floral aroma- perfectly clear dark yellow to mild orange color, so inviting. Taste is like a huge fresh hopped IPA, I’m not sure why this isn’t classified as a double/imperial IPA. I really like Hop Stoopid and this is just better all around. Huge flavors of pear and orange; great malt profile that provides a full body beer. This stuff is awesome!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Beer is damn good. I’ve never had brown shugga, so I don’t know what I’m missing, but I hope they make this one again. It’s a great IPA, really, with an awesome hop aroma and clean, bitter palate. Very refreshing. What makes it unique is the compelxity of the malt...cereal as they call it. Doesn’t look like much but has a grea flavor and awesome west coast hops.
