AKA Holiday Ale
AKA Holiday Leftover Ale
AKA Brown Sugar Substitute

This sad holiday season we didn’t have the brewing capacity to make our favorite seasonal brew, the widely feared BrownShugga’ Ale. You see we had a couple of really good years (thank you very much) and so heading into this season while we are awaiting the January delivery of a new brewhouse we are jammin’ along brewing 80 barrels of IPA and PILS and such every 3 hours. A couple of months back we realized that since we can only brew a mere 60 barrels of Shugga’ every 5 hours, that we were seriously screwed. For every case of Shugga’ brewed, we’d short 3 cases of our favorite daily beers. It’s a drag. This year, we brewed something that we think is also cool and brews more like our daily brews. The new brewhouse will help insure this kind of failure never happens again. It’s a mess that we can not brew our BrownShugga’ this year and we suck for not doing it. There is nothing cool about screwing this up this badly and we know it. Maybe we can sue our own sorry selves. There is no joy in our hearts this holiday and the best we can hope for is a quick and merciful end. F*@& us. This totally blows. Whatever. We freaking munch moldy donkey butt and we just want it to be all over...
So this substitute beer is a ‘Cereal Medley’ of Barley, Rye, Wheat, and Oats…. Full of complexishness from the 4 grains, and weighing in at 7.85% abv, Then joyously dry-hopped for that big aroma and resinous hop flavor.

Excellent IPA. I’m an IPA guy, and my two favorites are Two Hearted (OK, not an IPA, but a pale ale) and Zombie Dust. Lagunitas Sucks is in between those two. Citrusy hops and a lighter palate. I really enjoyed it and will be finding a sixer or two to have at home. On tap at Riverside Tap Room.

Love the powerful hoppy aroma. Looks like a normal beer - clear golden and bubbly. A little peachy. - Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma of candied citrus, maybe some wheat or just tons of pale malt, very nice, excellent grass note but its got some more depth to it than just straight grassy hoppy bears, the sweet malt note holds up well. Flavor follows but is just a bit more sweet and sugary that I would like but only by a tad, drinks well but leaves some richness in the aftertaste that sticks around, but it’s winter and that’s just fine.

This ones is a five all around. It’s just an exceptionally wonderful IPA. It has everything you could ever want. So much citrus, pine, tons of pine actually. So much citrus fruit, pineapple, mango literally everything. It’s a massive IPA with so much going on but theres a perfect balance. It’s just a really exceptional IPA and if you appreciate IPA you’ll probably feel the same. This one just blew me away. I will be stocking up on this. Cheers.

Keg at the Kings Arms, London. It pours a hazy copper colour with a medium white head. Aroma is hoppy with notes of pine cones, citrus, biscuit, malt. Taste is medium sweet and intensely hoppy with notes of caramel, toffee, mango, citrus juice, dried wild berries. Full bodied with good carbonation. Tasty beer, almost an American barley wine

Attractive rustic orange pour w/ a good white head that leaves lacing. The aroma is robust w/ hops w/ some piney notes really standing out. The initial taste is quite nice full of slightly sweet & citrusy hops but the finish is quite bitter & dry. The rye kind of takes away from the flavor & makes it just a tad harsh in the end. It does have a nice mouthfeel - light & hides the 8% well. Very solid beer overall!

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2014 From a cute 32oz "jug" bottle into a new Bud Light pint glass. Pour is orange/gold with a rather fine foamy head. Nose is hops mostly of the citrus variety, some pine needle, happily less malt than expected. Attack is bittering and citrus hop elements, carry through the palate. Candied grapefruit rind. Little detectable alcohol. Very balanced throughout in terms of bitter and sweet. Minimal malt. Nice stuff, glad I bought a case.
