gringo332 (236), Richardson, Texas, USA Feb 18, 2009 Updated: Mar 14, 2009Wow, I thought I was drinking a barley-wine at first. Great beer, the flavor exceed the aroma. Moderate head. The head tastes wonderful on its own. Sweet Caramel flavor with a hint of hops in the backdrop. Nik925 (300), California, USA Feb 14, 2009 Sweet malt, Some cherry wood flavors. This could easily pass as a barley wine. Texture, and flavor are chewy, in a good way. This one is all about the malt. Syd (888), Waconia, Minnesota, USA Feb 13, 2009 Bottle pours red brown with a big giant head and lots of lace in sheets. The aroma is malty sweet, fruity, and slightly hop like. The flavor is sweet, fruity, plums, and some hops to keep it from being too much sugar. The palate is really quite the standout as it is thick while still having life. Overall, palate is the winner with this one.

Pours a dark blood red-esque pour with minimal whitish head that sticks around and laces minimally. Aromas of sweet sugary malts, light dark fruits, and light spices. Taste mirrors these features, showing up sugary sweet malts of molasses and cake, mixed with raisins and dark fruits, maple syrup, and light spices. Finishes with a lingering sweetness. Very little bittering from hops. Too sweet, lack of balance, but I like where Lagunitas was going with this. An ok brew, perhaps a strong ale lover’s cup of tea. ndubs360 (114), portland, Oregon, USA Feb 5, 2009 Tap @ Bailey’s... Poured a dark ruby with a white head. Lacing on the glass. Very sweet. Spices show up in the aroma and the taste. Currants, cinnamon, and some maple are involved. Weird beer, and not a favorite. Aquilo (248), California, USA Feb 3, 2009 Dark, dark red with very little head. This beer is incredibly sweet, from smell to taste. Dominant aromas are molasses, raisins, and some spice. Flavor is figs and brown sugar. This is not complex, and arguably too sweet, but I found it strangely satisfying.
