A nice strong ale with aroma of dried fruit and molasses with a deep copper color and light tan head. Flavor is prune, raisins, brown sugar with a mildly bitter finish. Palate is thick and creamy. Overall, real nice, a solid 9%er.

12 fl. oz. bottle from BOTW (Rochester), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. SE04/08.

App.: Fairly deep reddish-copper, clear, fair light tan head. Aroma: Fruity, lots of brown sugar, some molasses, raisins and dark dried fruits, berries, slightly boozy, a bit of wood, light grapefruit hops. Palate: Medium+ body, fairly soft carbonation, kinda syrupy. Flav.: Much like the nose – lots of dark malty flavours, some fruitiness, a bit of stinging alcohol, sweet with fair bitterness.

Don’t like getting the hairy eyeball, but it’s OK to drink it.

Kicks you in the behind with the ABV, be careful. Smooth alcoholic ester taste of a winter, much better than other contemporaries.

Pours a three finger cream head that fades slowly to a thin layer, leaving some lace. Deep mahogany color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Molasses nose. Flavor is sweet/roasted molasses some bitterness at finish. Higher ABV hidden and the high IBU (96.7) is not in your face. $1.67 for a 12oz bottle from Manchester Wine and Liquors Manchester, CT.

Bought this as part of my new pick 6 for the week. It pours a clear dark amber, with an eggshell head. The aroma is solid, with notes of licorice, and some hints of dark fruitiness. The flavor is a little too sweet for me, but it is drinkable, and the mouthfeel is good. Overall I would say this is a sipper, and I would probably get it again. Cheers!!

Pours a dark amber/mahogany. Aroma of sweet caramel, malt, and some dark fruit. Flavor features sweet malt, primarily, with caramel, brown sugar, and some fruit and roasted notes. Finishes sweet, but I also tasted a trace of hops. Overall, a bold flavored beer, but just too malty for me. Perhaps it isn’t balanced as well as it could.
