Sweet caramel aroma. Flavor of caramel sweetness. A sweet yet bitter hop finish like a young american barley-wine. Tasty.

12 oz. bottle - Poured a mahogany color with small head. Aroma is sweet like a sucker. Flavor is also sweet, tastes like a cherry blow pop with alochol on the palate. I enjoyed this brew and pretty much evey beer from Lagunitas. Great beer from an awesome brewer !!!

12 ounce bottle from By The Bottle in Vancouver, WA--Poured a deep brown body with a thick beige head. Nose of sticky caramel maltiness and bitter acidic hops. Creeping booziness that i evident by the end of the bottle. Toffee and dark fruits in the body and lot of malt complexity. Nice beer.

Bottle courtesy of Secret Santa: Poured a deep dark brown color ale with an average foamy head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma of big caramel malt is quite imposing and dominating. Taste is also dominated by some heavy caramel malt with some notes of bitter hops. Lacking some floral or citrus notes with not as much hops as I was expecting considering the brewery. Full body with average carbonation and no discernable alcohol. This one was a bit of a surprise considering the lack of hops (yes there is a lot but not as much as I would expect from Lagunitas) but the malt was very efficient.

Poured a hazy brown color with a small off white head. Aroma was very malty, some dark fruits, and toffee. Flavor was much the same, very subdued hops, lots of thick thick malts.

12 oz. bottle. Pours dark, clear copper with a small, diminishing light tan head. Aroma is thick with molasses, brown sugar, resiny hops, and fruity esters (figs). Some perfumy sweet notes linger on the outside. Flavor is much drier than anticipated from the sappy sweet aroma, but still dominated by a syrupy complex malt character overlain with a fairly tangy citrus hop presence. Medium to medium-full bodied, smooth and warming. Excellent strong ale.

Pours sparkling dark red with an average sized frothy light-brown. Aroma is heavly malty of bread and carmel, moderatly hopy of pine and oranges, moderatly yeasty of plums and prunes. Flavor starts moderatly sweet of carmel and a bit of roast and candi sugar? Finishes more balanced. medium bodied, oily and livley carbonated.

12oz bottle from Kahn’s, Indianapolis. Nice copper pour with lively carbonation and a strong, sugary malt aroma. Upon sipping, however, a strong hop presence emerges, more on the harsh than the floral side. Fairly well balanced, and certainly enjoyable, but not too distinct from many of Lagunitas’ strong ale offerings.
