COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Here’s Lookin’ Atcha’!"

Laying there, staring up at the ceiling, head pounding, last night was a dim recollection. How did he get home? Was he alone? Looking to the left and right, the answer was yes, maybe. His head was full of ’rag water, bitters, and the blue ruin’.His teeth felt like he’d been chewing aluminum and his breath smelled like a burning tractor tire. There was a wrenching knot somewhere between his liver and East St. Louis and he couldn’t be sure whether or not he’d wet himself. A yellow sine wave rang in his ears so loud nit made his teeth itch and he was sure that if he touched his skin anywhere it would induce a rhythmic retching jag. Even in the face of all that, he found himself smiling at the realization that today represented the fresh breast of a new year- an undiscovered country- and also there was still one warm, half-full, flat redolent Hairy Eyeball on the nightstand. Yes-there is a God.

An interesting beer, a weird mix of tastes, can't put my finger on what. Pours an absolutely beautiful deep ruby red color with a thin white head. Smells like a strawberry cremesicle. Almost has a grainy wort smell. A lot of maltiness in the taste, with some hops throughout, some cherry pie, with a tiny amount of malt liquor in the finish. Had in the bottle.

Dark reddish chestnut, thin but lasting head. Very light malt smells. Taste sweet and smooth almost a candied hop light stick left behind. Great malty sweet beer with a slight under bitter.

Bottle. Rich, deep red color with a muddy, thick whipped topping. Extracting an aroma through that thick head is pretty difficult. But this drinks with a big, rich character ... viscous and full of thick caramel, a nice little tangy twist interwoven in that soupy base. Good heavy but easy to drink beer for a cool evening. Aroma is largely sweet, dark dried fruits and dark malt. Not much aromatic hopping in the nose, although enough in the taste to provide balance for all that sweet malty richness. Hops come through mostly as a syrupy citrus element. Not terribly complex, and a little sweet for me, even for the style, but not bad, and decently drinkable considering the test and the sugar.

Nice hoppy dark fruit aroma. Taste is some dark fruit, blend of pine hops, some malt. Not bad

Aroma is heavy caramel and light spicy. Clear, deep reddish tan. Flavor is the inverse of the aroma: there is a ton of sweet baking spice in this thing. Hints of ginger like some winter warmer beers. Like a bitter cake. Thick and rich body; the strength is not so subtle as claimed. A hard beer to start the night with...or end with.

Aroma of dried fruit caramel colored no head. Taste of grain and yeast with a slightly bitter palate ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The appearance has a semi-dark brown colored body with a thin less than a half fingered white foamy head that ends up leaving a very good drastic clingy lacing to the glass. The smell has some very sweet roasted caramel malts. The taste is exceptionally sweet, bready, and sticky in the flavoring. There is a super sweet sticky caramel aftertaste with a dry sweet finish. On the palate, it sits about a medium on the body with a decent sessionable aspect to it. The carbonation is decent for the style and for me as its semi smooth and barely anything harsh. Overall, this is an American Strong Ale by style - hey way to go Lagunitas, I’d have this one again as its good for the style and for me.

Had on draft at Lucky Pie in Denver. Caramel color is pleasing to the eye. Not much for odor. Easy on the palate with a smooth finish. Good addition of hops.

bottle. Light brown with one finger head. Malty and lightly sweet. There’s kind of an off rotten flavor here that just ruins it for me. Moderately boozy. Expected better from Lagunitas.
