"Here’s Lookin’ Atcha’!"

Laying there, staring up at the ceiling, head pounding, last night was a dim recollection. How did he get home? Was he alone? Looking to the left and right, the answer was yes, maybe. His head was full of ’rag water, bitters, and the blue ruin’.His teeth felt like he’d been chewing aluminum and his breath smelled like a burning tractor tire. There was a wrenching knot somewhere between his liver and East St. Louis and he couldn’t be sure whether or not he’d wet himself. A yellow sine wave rang in his ears so loud nit made his teeth itch and he was sure that if he touched his skin anywhere it would induce a rhythmic retching jag. Even in the face of all that, he found himself smiling at the realization that today represented the fresh breast of a new year- an undiscovered country- and also there was still one warm, half-full, flat redolent Hairy Eyeball on the nightstand. Yes-there is a God.

Pours a dark brown but clean and clear color with a decent thick head. Aroma is huge malt, caramel, nutty, bread, chocolate, coffee, a weak anise flavor, and a slight sugary, candy note that is more pleasant than usual, and a finish of slight hop bitter. Taste is a very smooth malt, bready and doughy, burnt caramel, weak coffee, chocolate, and a bitter that is almost as much from the coffee as the hops. Texture is smooth and velvety out of the bottle, my compatriot says it is more lively off draft. Overall a great beer, very easy to drink, and 9.4%!

Bottle. Pours clear deep reddish hazel with a medium creamy beige head that dissipates slowly with nice lacing. Aroma is malty, caramel, toffee, nutty, pine, perhaps a touch of smoke. Flavor is medium sweet and lightly bitter, malty, nutty, pine. Medium plus body, creamy mouthfeel. Meh

Clear deep red pour. Thin head fades quick. Aroma is light with candy. Mouth is thick. Taste is very strong. Sugar, candy, molasses and caramel. Super sweet, but this is kind of one note and not overly interesting. A little lace present.

A- Pours a deep brownish hue with a small, 1 finger tan head which fades quickly. S- Hints of brown sugar and unidentifiable sweetness. T- Lots of raisin, artificial dark fruit, hints of brown sugar, molasses. M- Medium bodied with a decent amount of carbonation. D- This was a decent brew overall but not one of lagunitas stronger

From a bomber. Pours dark brown with a fizzy beige head. Tastes like raisin, caramel, roasted grains, chocolate, light tobacco and booze. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like sweet malty raisin, syrup, booze, slightly bitter.

An interesting beer, a weird mix of tastes, can't put my finger on what. Pours an absolutely beautiful deep ruby red color with a thin white head. Smells like a strawberry cremesicle. Almost has a grainy wort smell. A lot of maltiness in the taste, with some hops throughout, some cherry pie, with a tiny amount of malt liquor in the finish. Had in the bottle.

Dark reddish chestnut, thin but lasting head. Very light malt smells. Taste sweet and smooth almost a candied hop light stick left behind. Great malty sweet beer with a slight under bitter.

Braudog (5647) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - MAR 14, 2014
Bottle. Rich, deep red color with a muddy, thick whipped topping. Extracting an aroma through that thick head is pretty difficult. But this drinks with a big, rich character ... viscous and full of thick caramel, a nice little tangy twist interwoven in that soupy base. Good heavy but easy to drink beer for a cool evening. Aroma is largely sweet, dark dried fruits and dark malt. Not much aromatic hopping in the nose, although enough in the taste to provide balance for all that sweet malty richness. Hops come through mostly as a syrupy citrus element. Not terribly complex, and a little sweet for me, even for the style, but not bad, and decently drinkable considering the test and the sugar.
