Slight brown head gives you a bit of creamy goodness on those first couple of sips. Aroma is of sweet fruit, like walking into a bakery after they made their deserts. Taste is of caramel, slight bitterness on the back end and I swear I got a hint of dirt there as the last drop slid down my throat. Good to ineresting but not groundbreaking.

Re-examined: 2/20/2008 Everything I love about Lagunitas encapsulated in a single, freaked-out bottle. Big malty hoppy in-your-face sweet mess of a drink. Lots of rich earthy goodness; nuts wood etc.. Simply wonderful - keep spittin out these gems guys.

Pours a brownish amber color with a tan head. Aroma is of caramel, slight roastiness, molasses, citrus hops, and a little alcohol. Flavor starts off with dark fruits and caramel that give way to the roasted malts and molasses. Finishes with a little bitterness and some alcohol warming. A pretty decent brew.

12oz - Aroma is sweet brown sugar, molasses, roasted malts and floral hoppy tartness. Pours brown-red with a nice fluffy head and great lacing. Flavor is brunt brown sugar, earthy hops, and molasses. Palate is sweet and sticky. Pretty good in my book.

Pours a crystal clear, brown\cough syrup red with a tan, frothy, mostly diminishing head. Aroma of earthy hops, sweat candy sugar, biscuit, and a slight alcohol tinge. Flavor is heavily sweet(cough syrup, candy, biscuity malt), strongly bitter(earthy, resinous hops), moderately acidic. Mouthful is aggressively carbonated with a syrupy texture. Overall, I think this ale could be more balanced. The flavors do not meld together quite so well.

12oz bottle. Pours clear with a light off white head and kind of a Bombay mahogany color. Spicy aroma with cinnamon or nutmeg(?). There are malty notes of sweetness but also an underlying hint of medicinal alcohol. The flavor is strong. Big malt that seems sure to have been spiced with something. Fairly bitter with spice and pine notes. Semi-dry, full mouth feel. Not bad, but certainly nothing I’ll get again.

Dark Amber body with boring tan head. Very sweet grape-like aroma with alcohol notes. A very dense grape-like sweetness first hit me in the mouth, followed by the alcohol. Right before the swallow, the hops became more present, doing a great job of balancing the beer, and mixing with notes of alcohol and black cherry for a very nice finish. Body was fine and the finish was long.
