Pours dark reddish with a mostly receding tan head. Aroma of brown sugar, plums, raisins, and grapefruity hops. Taste is toffee, brown sugar, citric sour orange. Mouthfeel is full bodied and slightly resinous with soft carbonation. Finish is hoppy and acidic. Yum!

Slight chocholate malt flavor quickly followed by carmel/toffee notes. The malt profile transitions very nicely from one malt to another. Clean and smooth texture. VERY Drinkable, especially considering it’s 9%. Bartender another round please.

Pours dark brown / crimson with a rocky tan head. The aroma has dark malt that is very smooth and tropical hops that are sweet and clean. Medium thick body that is very smooth and sticky with some nice carbonation on the finish. The flavor starts out with dark malt and sweetness that tastes natural as if it was apples or pears. The flavors come across bold, full, rich and clean. The finish has some spicy, woody and earthy hops along with a spice kick. The big flavors here do a great job of masking the 9% contain in the bottle. Big thumbs up for this winner from Lagunitas.

Dark pour, thin head. Aroma is very chocolatey with some cherry and a whiff of citrus hops. Full-bodied. Initially there is a nice hop tingle which quickly turns to the matly middle. Dried fruit comes out pretty strong, as does the alcohol. Sweet, brown sugar and bitter finish with some alcohol evident. I would have preferred more of the chocolate from the aroma but it works anyways.

Dark amber, moderate head, decent retention, blah lacing. Aroma is malt dominated with caramel, wood, dark sugar, light chocolate notes and also some grapefruity hops. Finish is fairly sweet. Medium bodied, alcohol hidden well. Overall I thought it was lacking character. The hops never came alive and the malts were uninteresting.

this was damn tasty. thick, rich, full bodied. some chocolate and nutty flavors and aromas, as well as some licorice and mollasses. definitely a winter warm-you-up kind of beer. some dark fruit and some alcohol also present in the flavor and oh so good.

Dark reddish brown with a tan head. The aroma is hoppy and sweet--with hints of caramel and some fruits. Nice malt flavor with some fruits mixed in--I really enjoyed the sweetness in this as it wasn’t overpowering at all--but very nicely mixed in with the malts.
