crazyvin (1246), New York, USA Jan 30, 2007 :Poured an almost sinster reddish-amber hue with barley any head. A rich fruity aroma mixed with hints of alchol and hops. Flavor was of rasians and candy like mlats with a modrate hop finish, alcohol was very warming. dyetube (397), Dallas, Texas, USA Jan 30, 2007 this beer pours a VERY dark amber with little to no head. On the nose there are notes of raisins, plums, and sweet malt. The flavors emulate this. This is a very well crated beer. I will probably get this again! Cheers! Doctormirk (100), USA Jan 30, 2007 Updated: Feb 11, 2007Bottled from the Chico Natural Foods Store. Dark reddish brown with a two finger head achieved through a more aggressive pour. Clear with no haze. Smells of hops, spice, fruit. Average mouthfeel, with better than average carbonation. Malty, not as hoppy as it smelled. Alcohol easily detectable. Leaves a furry bitterness, well done. Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Jan 29, 2007 Not a great brew but it (along with its hefty ABV) sure hit the spot after a drive through the snowy farm country of central Illinois. (Had the truck ahead of me driven off the road, I would’ve been right after him.) Anywhat - The body’s a brown & caramel color with a skinny beige head. It smells of dark caramel, roasted malt, overly dried nuts, and a light floral hopping. It sweetens up a tad in the mouth, although the nuts get more harsh and some alcohol slaps at the back of the throat. Pretty decent winter warmer, and relaxer.

LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 29, 2007 This beer was as weird as its name. The pour was a deep orange with little head. The taste was overpowered by alcohol. I had this on draft so I will try to re-rate. I literally swallowed this and felt the alcohol burn down my throat and into my stomach. I know its 9% but a good beer hides its alcohol content better. Not a bad American Strong, but could have been more subtle. zamco17 (134), Corpus Christi, Texas, USA Jan 29, 2007 Nice beer here. pours nice dark color. this is almost marzen style with the semi sweet roasted malt finish. bravo lagunitas, bravo! greenhorn1 (458), Mission Viejo, California, USA Jan 28, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear dark amber with little to no head and low carbonation. Sweet aroma with hints of plums and raisins. Flavor is similiar with a nice hoppiness on the back end. Medium mouthfeel that is slightly oily. Belly warmth is immediate. Nice winter brew. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jan 27, 2007 Bottled. Beer is clear, dark brown. Head is initially small, off-white, frothy. Diminishes into a ring quickly.

The aroma earn a hairy eyeball. It’s malty with moderate notes of husky, vegetal toasted grain, light caramel, toasted nut; Hoppy with a moderate note of resin/pine, light note of fresh grass; Yeasty with a light note of dough, trace of basement; Light miscellaneous note of wood.

The flavor is moderately-to-heavily bittersweet with a long, moderately bitter, lightly sweet finish. Husky retros returns, light alcoholic warmth.

The body is medium-to-full, the texture is velvety and the carbonation is lively.

Have to say the vegetal/husky note keeps me from loving this beer. The flavor balace is block-buster, the palate is great... but there’s just something kind of almost rotten smelling that travels with that vegetal note.
