Mar 11, 2005 Pours medium amber/brown with a medium white head and some nice fizzy carbonation. Smells smokey malts some mysterious sweet eludes me. Tastes rich smoked nut flavor and a defenate malt and hop blend real nice. Fairly heavy with a stingy/syrupy feel neat palate feel. Nice lasting aftertaste.

Apr 2, 2008 good powerful malt flavors and beautiful sweetness to where it tastes of cherry and fruit. very good holiday offering. it has a nice passing infusion of hops.brandydylike yet restrained very good beer with a nice hairy kick... bravo!

May 29, 2007 the first couple sips taste kinda weird, and frankly not good at all. But, once you have had a few, it tastes quite good. An acquired taste to be sure, but once you have, you’ll be happy about it.

Mar 6, 2009 Very akin to a Barley Wine, IMHO. The aroma was very fruity, brown sugar, raisins. Tne appearance is beautiful, a dark red/brown, off white head. The flavor is fruity, malty, brown sugar. Very nice. The finish has a decent component of hops, providing the appropriate bittering on the finish. The moutheel was very creamy and enjoyable. Excellent beverage overall.

Jan 20, 2008 12oz bottle pours clear amber with tan head and some decent lacing. The aroma is typical Lagunitas, which I love, with rich roasty – crystal malts and mild pine hops along with some pale malts and dark fruity esters. The taste is pretty even keel with a mild introduction of roasty 90L – type crystal malts to start followed by a pulse of sweet malts and dark fruity esters. Some pine hops grow into the finish but never outshine the malts. Very tasty.

Aug 6, 2008 12 oz. bottle - Poured a mahogany color with small head. Aroma is sweet like a sucker. Flavor is also sweet, tastes like a cherry blow pop with alochol on the palate. I enjoyed this brew and pretty much evey beer from Lagunitas. Great beer from an awesome brewer !!!

Feb 7, 2008 deep red-brown pour. thin to medium beige head that dissipates quickly - with a fair amount of lacing. smells like root beer and oranges. spice, grass and smoke up front with a lingering sweet malty dry finish.
