2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottled November 8, 2013.
Appearance: The body is perfectly clear with a beautiful cranberry juice hue, boy I love these garnet hued ales. The head is tall and dense, though a bit light in texture. The head settles into a full light tan coating with a creamy ring around the edges.
Aroma: The aroma is almost non-existent. I can smell a light dark fruitiness, perhaps cranberry and fig, with a very light chemical aroma, like gasoline. The aroma is so mild that I barely get anything and what I get I am not fond of.
Taste: The flavor isnít much more bold and itís a bit confusing. The intro is non-descript malts, mildly sweet, with a toasty mid-taste that is rather dry and sharp. The finish is a mix of non-descript malts and toast with a near perfume dryness that isnít very pleasant, sort of chemically. The finish lingers for a moment of malts and dryness.
Palate: Full-bodied with mild carbonation.
Overall: Perhaps the worst Lagunitas beer Iíve had. Itís not particularly bad, but I find no cohesiveness in this. The flavor finishes a bit abrasively and I donít find much I enjoy. This is very odd for me to feel this way about Lagunitas as I generally love them.

3.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a brown amber with a slightly disappointing off white head. Aroma started out rather pleasant but wound up smelling like paste? I almost wonder if I got a bad bottle? Taste is nice and well balanced. Mouth is slightly oily but there is a nice lingering bitter. The whole package overcomes some shortcomings... Would drink again.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber to goblet. Deep beautiful amber pour. Sweet aroma of caramel and toffee, dark fruit and some funk in the background. Flavor inline with the aroma. Sticky & sugary on the palate with flavor of burnt sugars, plum notes, funk and booze. Not a hot finish, but the 9% is defiantly there. I wonder how this would age...

Poured a mahogany clear color with 4-to-5 fingers of khaki tan frothy head. Lots of foamy lacing along the sides of the glass on the way down. Great retention.
Smelled tons of sugary malts from the get go. Got caramel, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, light cinnamon, light nutmeg and faint roasty nuts. Also some spicy notes. Nice on the nose.
Tasted much like the smell, which was nice. Got toffee, caramel, Rolos, bitter wood notes, brown sugar, roasty nuts and chocolate skim milk. Very good.
Medium body. Sticky texture. Soft carbonation. Bitter finish.
I really liked this beer. Would love it get my hands on some more.

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
For an American Strong Ale it tastes almost like a Belgian or a Scotch ale. Boozy smell. Plum hue. Raisin flavor. Caramel. Thin, lacy head. A strong wash down. You donít gulp this one but sip and savor it. I like the idea of it. In total contrast of what Lagunitas do. But they seem to do a lot of things good. Given that it needs to be a bit more balanced. The body is a bit dim. But it leaves a warm feeling in your belly.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bomber. Pours a brownish Coke color, thin off-white head that faded quickly, nice lacing though. Nose is brown sugar, toffee, some dried fruit (raisins and dates mainly). Mouth is thick and syrupy, medium sweet at first, then some bitterness accompanied by booziness, dried fruits and caramelly malts, with an odd saccharine-like aftertaste. Perhaps this would mellow out with aging? Not impressed at the moment though.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark cola color with a one finger tan head with some lacing. Aroma is of dark fruits, caramel, sweet malts, pine, dank hops, and some apple juice. Taste is pine hops, caramel, dark fruits, booze, toffee, and apple juice. Has a medium-full body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a semi bitter, medium-long finish. Overall, a pretty decent strong ale that makes a pretty good winter warmer but might just be a tad too boozy.
