3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap @ the Brew Kettle 7/21/06: Hazy coppery brown w/ a lasting light beige head. Piney & woody hops abound w/ hints of citrus. Caramel malt w/ a bit of alcohol. A bit nutty and toasty w/ a hint of roast balances the hop nose. Piney & herbal hop flavor up front. Some spicy alcohol w/ toasted & caramel malts. Aftertaste is herbal citrusy w/ toasted malt flavor. Finish is semi sweet, but dries out in the aftertaste. Well balanced for the most part. Medium body, low medium carbonation, well hidden alcohol. Not quite as bitter or aggressive as their IPA, more to my liking, and a pretty good beer!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber. Pours a beautiful red with a fluffy off white head, spotty lacing. Aroma of grapfruity hops, brown sugar, and candy red hots. Earthy maltiness of caramel, tea counterbalanced by bitter, grassy and piney hops. A tad of alcohol in the sweet and dry finish, along with a pleasant peppery hop bite. Not to bad. My wife liked this.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a tan ruby color with cascading bubbles that leaves a thick tan head that is frothy, bubbly, and clingy. The aroma is spicy hops, dark fruit, plums, nectarines, cinnamon, with vanilla sweetness. The taste starts bitter with a strong malty caramel thickness that coats the palate with fruit sweetness balanced by a sharp bitterness that finishes syrupy thick and bitter but is refreshing and lively. Take that "po-po", this is a delicious brew aggresive and angry (in terms of the hop profile) great job Lagunitas!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Dark ruddy amber pour. Huge hop aroma - very piney, and some caramel malts. Fairly malty flavors, a fair bit of residual sugar - fairly big, without a huge chewy mouth. Hops very present in flavor as well, with a bitter finish. Alcohol was very noticable, but I think it will mellow with age. I enjoyed this beer a lot.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a nice dark reddish amber color. Aromas of HOPS, and some other hints, maybe fruit, some caramel. Flavor is a bittersweet, malty, and hoppy as hell. Can really taste the alcohol in this one. This one would be better served in the fall or winter. Damn fine beer, none the less.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark amber, hints of copper pour with a frothy head. Aroma is of hops, florals, and fruity tones. Taste is more hoppy, some malty sweetness, light caramels, citrus, and pine. Many flavors present, yet very well balanced. I enjoyed this one thoroughly.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a heavily filtered amber with a quickly diminishing head. The aroma is very piney, grassy, with only a light hint of malt. The body is only med. if that. The flavors is exceedingly clean as if they over-pitched. Nothing really in the way of esters and the malts are almost non-existent. Pine-sol hoppiness and that’s about it. Finish is dry and bitter, but nothing extreme. Can’t say I very much care for this.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
[bottle] Dark amber color, with a dense foamy head that quickly dissolves. Aroma is hoppy- as expected, with plenty of malty, caramel notes as well. Flavors are immediately dry and bitter- turning to a sweetness that takes over over and lets the alcohol really come through. Not a bad beer, but in the grand scheme of hopped-up Californian beers, this is kind of overly sweet.
