COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brewed this especially bitter ale in dedication to all the world’s would-be astronauts, in remembrance of the 2005 St. Patrick’s Day Massacre on the Brewery Party Grounds and also in joyous celebration of our 20-day suspension that following January. Do the crime. Do the time. Get the bragging rights. Cheers!

UPDATED: AUG 30, 2007 Bomber. Just bought this today and had not heard of it but admire some of Lagunitas offerings so I figured what the heck?! Pours well, nice 1 finger type head. Aroma seems earthy to me, not sure how to describe it. Flavor is resiny and bitter with a finish of hop and pine. In looking at the description of the beer, I wonder what is this 20 day suspension they mention?

Bomber. Beautiful copper with a huge off white head. Caramel, orange and overripe tropical fruit, particularly papaya. Sweet tropical fruit and brown sugar flavors, a bit hot overall. Nice!

Bottle. Dark, orange-brown in color. Muted hoppiness. Not overly bitter. Somewhat watery. Spicy and lightly tangy. Sampled @ American Beer Fest in Boston

22 oz bottle. Pours a reddish amber with a small off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin film that leaves some lacing.

The aroma is sweet caramel, melon, and some metallic, slightly piney, hops.

The flavor is sweet sugary malts, some tangy fruits and then a big piney hop finish that lingers in the aftertaste. It’s nicely balanced and blends well together. The alcohol is noticeable and warming, but not over the top. The mouthfeel is medium to full with soft (yet bitter) carbonation.

Overall, a tasty beer. It seems pretty similar to the Lucky #13 from what I remember, but not as good.

Bottle: not a great aroma. But, you can really smell the grain if you are in to it. Crushed crystal malt scent. Great malty taste. A solid brew.

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2007 deep amber pour with a 2 finger tannish head. medium hop, pine and hints of citrus in the nose. Decent amount of lacing. Taste starts out almost creamy, for the first few seconds then turns hoppy pine bitter with some caramel. Oddly enough at 10% ABV this is very drinkable. This review took me 5 mins and my pint glass is over half gone. DEE-Lish!

Sham (1845) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 16, 2007
Mahogany with an off white head that leans more towards tan. Bitter citrus in the nose with pine hops. Sweet caramel malts along with a hint of roast. The flavors contains a healthy dose of bitterness along with some grapefruit citrus. The malts are heavy and leave a sticky residue at the end. The beer is a little thick and well carbonated. It finishes with a lot of bitter hops.

Pours deep bronze with a pillowy and soapy tan head. The aroma is very hoppy - woody, piny and earthy. There is also heavily toasted caramel malt that is also on the earthy side. Medium / full body with quite a bit of resin and lots of gentle carbonation. The flavor starts out with lots of earthy / woody hops and is just an all out resin bomb. There is a bit of soapiness and hefty roasted nutty malt balancing things out. Tropical flavors swirl throughout this as well. The finish has big bitterness along with a light bit of something that reminds me of household cleaner, but somehow in a good way. Coconut traces are on the finish as well. Overall a very solid enjoyable beer.

Pours a dark amber color with big foamy head that fades quicly leaving gobs of lace on my glass. Aroma is light fruit, citrus, and some caramel malt. Taste is citrus hops backed with a strong malt presence. Some fruitiness mingles with the alcohol that comes out in the finish. Strong bitter finish with some alcohol bite in your face. These guys make a hell of a strong ale!

This dark brown lager has a massive nose that reaks of bitterness. The deep dark malt profile really takes a back seat to all the hops in this one. Almost an oaky woodiness to it, but it is very muted compared to the malt, and the hops, and the light alcohol burn at the very end as it slides into the stomach. Everything I’ve had from these guysis top notch, I just could give two craps about their story of shutting down. It’s a waste. Good beer though
