3.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Good price point. Nice traditional lagunitas grapefruit hop flavor that is overtaken by a wonderful sweet boozy maltiness. That makes me tingle.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dark amber with thick white head. Aromas of grapefruit, pine, and toffee. Nice balance between bitterness from hops and sweetness from malt. Thick, chewy mouthfeel. Perfect brew to ween oneself from heavy, cold weather imperial stouts. Another great beer from Lagunitas!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Big nose of dark fruit, pine, malt, and floral hops. All of those wash over the palate with a more distinct grassy bitterness, but a good, tasty bitter, balanced with strong caramel malt that lingers pleasantly. Finishes smooth and balanced. Not only is the alcohol hidden well in the flavor, but incredibly easy to palate considering the ABV, not sticky or cloying. A very well-done strong ale that showcases classic Northern California hop flavors.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Appearance is deep amber with a thick white foam cap. Aroma is all hop... More earthy, herbal, and citrus. Taste is grassy, earthy, onion, with slight bit of pine. Mouthfeel is fairly high. Finish is a soft hop bitterness following by intense alcohol warmth. As the beer warms the alcohol finish becomes very noticeable and leaves a stinging sensation

This is the future of beer. At least for people like me who need things that grab you by the neck and wrestle you to the ground and make you cry uncle. The future of beer includes a mass funeral for the generic "IPA"s that every brewery feels obliged to half-heartedly cook up so that guys in polo shirts or shirts with slogans on them might find adventurous, but are still cheap swill. The future of beer includes this one, and thatís why my fridge is filled with anything I can get my hands on that is massive in terms of malt, hops, yeast, fruit, alcohol - - and especially all-of-the-above. Thatís why my fridge will include this one, till it gets crowded out by things more apocalyptic.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Copper-colored with very good clarity. Medium light tan, fine head. Big resiny hop aroma with some alcohol and solvent notes. Flavor was inititially very solventy and alcoholic. After the beer warmed and breathed, the solvent notes became far less apparent. Huge, resiny, hoppy, alcohol flavor with a big malt body to support it. Fruity esters and alcohol in the finish along with lots of hop flavor and bitterness. Medium-full body but good carbonation level gave a lighter impression. Nice beer with a funny story behind its creation.

4.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
The nose isnít much. The appearance is of a brown/mahogany, Little head retention but at 9.75? Who would have thought that important? The taste is a very robust malt matrix combined with just the right Hops. Both the profile and at 66.6 ibuís It has hop attack, iTís just not the star here. That Title will be given to Itís brewers. Well Done. Didnít want an IPA nor a Stout. This is a welcome addition to a hard to fill niche.

pours dark bronze with medium off-white head. aroma has notes of piney hops, grass, citrus, and bready malt. caramel, malt, and dark sugar flavors with a splash of tartness up front; transitions to toffee with candied citrus hops and a good dose of bitterness for the finish. thick and slightly boozy (especially at the finish), but very easy to drink.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap. Pours a clear amber/brown. Aroma is hops upfront, with a bit of orange citrus and some sweet caramel. Fairly full bodied on the palate. Taste is similar to an IPA with the bitter hops and citrus, but sweet caramel comes through with boozy alcohol. Pretty solid beer. I like the sweet/bitter balance.

Bottle. Deep brown amber, small cream head. Smells delicious. Malt, brown sugar, hops. Taste similar to the nose, with a nice sweet and sour balance. The hoppy bite is more subtle than expected, with the alcohol very subdued for almost 10%. Unique and tasty.
