4.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
The nose isnít much. The appearance is of a brown/mahogany, Little head retention but at 9.75? Who would have thought that important? The taste is a very robust malt matrix combined with just the right Hops. Both the profile and at 66.6 ibuís It has hop attack, iTís just not the star here. That Title will be given to Itís brewers. Well Done. Didnít want an IPA nor a Stout. This is a welcome addition to a hard to fill niche.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
This is a spectacular looking beer! Pours a beautiful deep topaz color into a pint glass with a huge, pillowy head that lasts forever. Lacing all the way down the glass. One of the best looking beers Iíve ever seen!
Aromas of fresh hops. Not overpowering, but very fresh smelling. Slightly fruity and flowery.
Taste is very nice. Definitely bitter and hoppy, but not to the point of being overdone. A sweetness as well, but just enough to compliment the hops. Iím not sure I completely agree with the style for this beer. When I think of double IPAs, I think of over-the-top hoppiness and a very malty backbone. This beer seems more of a strong ale. But donít get me wrong; I really like this and think it is very good!!
Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. Some bitterness remains on the palate after enjoying a mouthful.
I have to say that as I write this review and drink this beer, the head is still amazing!!!
Overall, this beer is exceedingly drinkable, but I know the ABV will catch up to me. Even so, I have to give it a high drinkabiltiy score, because it goes down so easily!
Highly recommended. If you see it, pick it up and take it home.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Smells delicious, upfront thereís a dominating fruity aroma followed by a hint of citrus. Canít detect the alcohol. Gorgeous clear golden/amber color. I poured a three finger head. Taste just like it smells, sweet upfront followed by a light sour hoppy taste. Goes down smooth. A bit of carbonation. A great beer. I highly recommend.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
hoppy, but has a weird aftertaste. id compare this aftertaste to something generated by an 8 or 10% malt liquor. not a good aftertaste for the price you pay for this unique brew. it almost tastes like a real old beer would taste.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Deep copper color, clear, wht tan head. Itís an intense battle between malt and hops. Itís unmistakably a Lagunitas beer- people familiar with their beers will know what I mean. Itís almost a barley wine, but maybe not quite as thick. An awesome sipping beer, but a bit cloying.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Erikís Grocery Bag. Pours a deep gold with a white head. Aroma isnít very clear. When itís cold, you will notice the hops more. As it warms up, the malty flavors become a lot more noticeable. Goes down easily despite the strength. This is actually the fifth or sixth time Iíve had it, but the first Iíve gotten around to reviewing it (Iím quite fond of this beer).

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Didnít quite know what to expect of this one, and now wish I had bought a couple more bottles.
Pours a light amber, with a good head and well-preserved lacing in the Duvel glass I used.
Lots of hop aroma, but also some maltiness. Taste was much the same, though not as bitter as I would have expected for the amount of aroma hops.
Very good and very drinkable.

had this several times, but just now got around to rating it. Pours an amber color with a frothy head. not bad. smells hoppy, but what lagunitaís beers donít? with an abv over 9%, you can taste it. it is subtle, but you can tell it is stiff. I would say this one is a borderline Imperial amber, but with 9%.
