3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 17, 2013 Pours dark golden, slightly hazy, lots of bubbles, finger creamy white head, thick lacing. Aroma is bready malt, toffee, floral and earthy hops. Flavor is slightly bitter floral hops, bready malt, slight fruity esters. Mouthfeel is medium, good amount of carbonation, slight alcohol heat and a bit peppery. Overall well balanced and tasty, not great, but pretty good.

Bottle. Smooth, a little sweet, buttery. Copper. This was the perfect beer for tonight.

This is the "SNEAK RELEASE" not the "12th Anniversary" edition. Wouldn’t put this in the IPA or IIPA genera; I’d like it in the Strong Ale category. Yes it is a hoppy beer, but the spice profile in the malts give this a big big boost. Not as good as Mendicino’s Eye of the Hawk, but better than Stone’s Arrogant Bastard. A bit chalky on the palate. Nice buzz though. Good, but I wouldn’t rave about it...

Wow, one of the best "nose’s" I’ve ever smelled out of a bottle! Great off-white creamy head that seems to last. Super sticky lace- all the way down. Man it just coats the glass. Dark amber color. Burst of wonderful hoppy flavor first sip. Man this is it! Even still a nice malty balance. We had it our vertical pale/IPA tasting, last weekend, and it was the winner!
I sure hope this becomes a regular bottling!

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer smells a lot better than it tastes. This is an overly hopped and unbalanced IPA. It is surprisingly simple for an imperial, with the hops dominating every part of the flavor. The quality of the hops are obviously very high, and the flavor is nice, but there is very little malt to be tasted, the mouthfeel thin, and the flavor is short-lasting. I am beating this beer up a bit as I have high standards for imperial IPAs, and also for this brewery in general. It is not terrible, but I can think of a long list of imperial IPAs I’d rather have than this one.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Clear, dark, amber colour with a hint of red. Nice big, white head.
Nose: Fruity, malty, pine, bread, hops, caramel and coconut.
Taste: Toffee, bread, red berries, orange marmalade, pine, roasted malt and the special "Lagunitas" taste...
Great full body and medium carbonation.
What a great beer! I’ll come back ;-)

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Systemet. Nice dark amber with a firm, frothy head. A very complex aroma and rich taste with bread, citrus. A bit on the strong side re. alcohol taste.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
My buddy Tyler and I threw down on a case of these bad boys. Very bitter and hoppy strong ale. Dark mahogany, medium body, instantly diminishing head. Piney and citrus notes are present, as well as alcohol. A realy good beer.

I love this beer! Sweet syrupy caramel aroma, beautiful orange/red color. Sweet, hoppy, floral. Smooth, hides the alcohol content well, I can drink so many, is dangerous :)
