We brewed this especially bitter ale in dedication to all the world’s would-be astronauts, in remembrance of the 2005 St. Patrick’s Day Massacre on the Brewery Party Grounds and also in joyous celebration of our 20-day suspension that following January. Do the crime. Do the time. Get the bragging rights. Cheers!

Drank from bottle. Nose is citrus, hops, and resin. Taste has a heavy orange presence a little sweet on the tongue with a dry and mildly bitter finish that doesn’t linger. Amazing beer

Pours an oak brown with medium frothy white head. Lots of lacing as head dissipates. Aroma is caramel, toast, nutty, with a bit of citrus coming through the strong malt. Taste is sweet at the very beginning, quickly morphing into a mild bitterness. The bitter taste is persistent through the finish but not overwhelming or palate destroying. Palate is full and thick, slightly syrupy. Alcohol taste comes through at the end, but still well-masked for such a high ABV. Like that is not overwhelmed by hops! Very nice. Would drink again.

12 oz. -> Eng. Pint. One-sixth of a gift from Dr. Bock. Pours a dark copper, with a toasted marshmallow head, which remains as a thin layer on top throughout enjoyment. Nice lacing. Smells of alcohol, resin, spices/clove, and mold. Tastes of burnt caramel, alcohol, and rootbeer candy (as opposed to real rootbeer), with a slight bitterness at the end. An excellent distraction while I make Contracts & Sales flashcards.

Dark amber color. Grapefruit hoppy aroma with almost a hint of mint. Roasted caramel flavors with perfect bitter balance. Nice sweet/bitter finish. Delicious and unique beer.

12oz. bottle to mason jar (felt appropriate), crisp + clear coppery amber color, ¾” ivory head. The nose was piney and resinous upon being freshly poured, it seemed to mellow significantly within a few minutes and a few sips(where’d that sweet smell go?). First taste follows closely with the nose, sprucey, hoppy, resinous, sappy, syrupy goodness. Hops linger on the palate for a spell. I do not feel any heat for the A.B.V., super smooth, great carbonation and that unmistakable Lagunitas house yeast. This is probably 9 or 10 months old and I was thinking it would negatively impact the taste, and it does taste off just a smidgen, little cough syrup flavor comes through which I do not believe is present when its fresh. Overall solid offering and will always search it out when it’s fresh.

I love this beer! Sweet syrupy caramel aroma, beautiful orange/red color. Sweet, hoppy, floral. Smooth, hides the alcohol content well, I can drink so many, is dangerous :)

Appearance is deep amber with a thick white foam cap. Aroma is all hop... More earthy, herbal, and citrus. Taste is grassy, earthy, onion, with slight bit of pine. Mouthfeel is fairly high. Finish is a soft hop bitterness following by intense alcohol warmth. As the beer warms the alcohol finish becomes very noticeable and leaves a stinging sensation

mad hoppy on the nose with lots of orangey, grapefruity citrus. ditto on the palate, hops über forward with similar notes, also some pear/pear peel fruitiness coming through, then following with caramel and sweet, woody, pine resiny notes. alcohol evident, warming mouthfeel. smallish head (served from draft), a sort of cream/tan atop a nice, orange-copper-hued brew. good stuff.

Poured dark brown, with light tan head. Aroma of caramel, coffee, toast. Slick feel, medium body light carbonation. This has a fairly bitter start with lingering bitterness. Flavor of malt and coffee. Pretty good if you like bitter ale.

The nose isn’t much. The appearance is of a brown/mahogany, Little head retention but at 9.75? Who would have thought that important? The taste is a very robust malt matrix combined with just the right Hops. Both the profile and at 66.6 ibu’s It has hop attack, iT’s just not the star here. That Title will be given to It’s brewers. Well Done. Didn’t want an IPA nor a Stout. This is a welcome addition to a hard to fill niche.
