3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours lightly brown amber with a thin but lasting head that is considerably lacy. The aroma is fairly hoppy with resin and pine notes but also has a sweet fruity aspect that makes it quite different from the typical hoppy American strong ale. The taste is very sweet upfront like a big barley wine and traditions into a fairly bitter finish.

Great IPA. Simple, bitter and hoppy. All it should be: grapefruit, citrus, pine.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dark amber colour with a large, creamy head. Aroma of hops with pine, citrus, caramell and grass. Also some floral notes and fruits and berries. A light smell of elder flower. Taste of caramel, toffee, syrup and hops togheter with light, sweet fruits and berries. A sweet and "sticky" mothfeel with a smooth background taste with a hoppy bitterness. A bitterness that makes a good balance to the sweet notes. Incredibly good.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. Bottle: Deep copper color with a small ivory head. Great aroma, somewhat sweet but clearly hoppy. Starts out slighty sweet with some vanilla and caramel but transitions on the finish to a sharper, somewhat bitter bite. The body is medium and well suited for this beer. This is one of the best beers that I remember from Lagunitas

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Not much in the way of aroma. Color is standard golden with a thin head. Taste is great! Palate is great. Lots of malt and that balances out the hops. Great drinkable Beer!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Highly aromatic with fruity and earthy hops. A hop forward ale that highlights American hops: citrus, pine, earthy, and resin. Some slight caramel flavor but subdued to the hop profile.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Gorgeous the color of true amber... pours with a big fluffy tan head. The big piney resiny hop aroma jumps out along with the head... sure as the beer warms some alcohol peeks thru
Another Imperial Red like... or light American Barleywine?
Very well made beer... as the truck load of hop bitterness and flavor (resiny, citrus) runs the taste buds over... a good size malt note follows up to provide succor with caramel, toast to be beat up by the alcohol warmth and raked over the lingering dryness
I am torn...
Right now this beer is unapologetically out of balance and interesting in its own way ... some age may help tame the resiny hops and meld a little.
So do what I did, get 2 bottles taste one now and age the other
Cheers to Lagunitas for an interesting beer

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Wow, a really well put together beer. The nose was full of bread, grapefruit, brown sugar and butter. It starts off with a nice balance of sweet and bitter, and has a long, bitter finish. The palate brings lively carbonation with a bit of a chalky feel. This beer greets you well on every dimension!

Very good beer. Sweet hop aromas and earthy hop taste. Dark copper color. Very bitter and oh so delicious.
