COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brewed this especially bitter ale in dedication to all the world’s would-be astronauts, in remembrance of the 2005 St. Patrick’s Day Massacre on the Brewery Party Grounds and also in joyous celebration of our 20-day suspension that following January. Do the crime. Do the time. Get the bragging rights. Cheers!

This is a damn good brew. I picked it up on a whim after working 7 days straight and this hit the mark and then some! Smell and taste are perfect, very piney and the alcohol is masked very well. Definitely a beer to watch yourself with as these are easy drinkers.

This beer rocks, but I’m not surprised. Aroma is very hoppy and citrusy. Flavor is smooth grapefruit, hops are not too bitter, just right. Very easy drinking for such a big beer. I liked this a lot.

Wow, one of the best "nose’s" I’ve ever smelled out of a bottle! Great off-white creamy head that seems to last. Super sticky lace- all the way down. Man it just coats the glass. Dark amber color. Burst of wonderful hoppy flavor first sip. Man this is it! Even still a nice malty balance. We had it our vertical pale/IPA tasting, last weekend, and it was the winner! I sure hope this becomes a regular bottling!

This starts out smelling of hops... the beautiful smells of pine and citrus. It pours a dark amber with hints of red with almost no head. This starts with the taste of pine, with a touch of vanilla, and then has a nice long oily, bitter finish. I’m glad this one was made again.

Brew pours a deep amber color w/ a full, semi creamy, pancake spattered, froth. Hangtime is lengthy. Residual lacing is thick and clumpy. Nice! Aromas of freshly mowed hops and a slight wintergreen on the malts. Full nectar w/ ample residual effers that create a creamy cotton texture. Thick, chewy malts meet sharp, splintering hops head on in a collision that seems to fuse the two forces together creating a wonderfully balanced brew of extreme proportions. Flavor complexities are cut short from the high hop rate but that does not deminish the overall complexity of this very drinkable brew. Due to the low caramel factor, this brew is quite dry w/ only a mild touch of molases. The hops are velvety w/ a touch of asprin and slightly aged citrus rind. The finish is bittered thoroughly w/ citrus rind. Overall: It’s a big brew in every sense of the word. The alcohol is well hidden, and it’s balanced nicely.

22 oz. brown bomber bottle. A steal at $3.99 each. Poured out a wildflower honey color, with a sticky tan colored head. Aromas are of honey, caramel, toffee, burnt raw sugars. 9.28% ABV on my bottle. Flavor profile is off the hook. Strong malt backbone with grapefruit hops bite. Bites your ass like a rattlesnake. Big alcohol flavors, along with subtle vanilla beans in the background. Thick mouthfeel, chewy body. Like a big ass Barleywine. Kicks royal ass. Keep up the good work guys! Thanks much for this ale.

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2009 Wow the db f’d up and put the (really inaccurate) review below, last paragraph, someone else wrote but has my rating. amazing strong ale because it is so smooth. Hides the alcohol. The comparison would be be dogfish triple hopped IPA or founders double trouble but perhaps more barley wine flavor Ale Noir! Hard nosed and menacing but in a delicous way. Cross between Black Bear Hotrod and GL Eliot Ness. You tasted the 9.9% just in the biting whiskey-like way sam spade would of wanted it.

UPDATED: MAY 2, 2010 22oz bottle -pours a foamy light tan head and deep amber color. Aroma is northwest hops-citrus/resiny/pine, syrup, medium malt. Taste is tingly on the tongue, northwest hops-citrus/resiny/pine, syrup, medium malt, pick up of alcohol at the end. Good effervescence, could be an American Strong Ale, but best I2PA I think I’ve had. 100430-just had this in the 12oz pkg, not as impressive as 2+ yrs ago, but still pretty tasty. Leaving the score alone, just adding this comment.

Pours a clear copper color. Fluffy off-white head that sticks around and leaves great lacing. Malty caramel and a even get a hint of coconut in the aroma. Malty and sweet with dark fruits. Nice balance of the bitterness. Some alcohol warming in the finish.

Drank from bottle. Nose is citrus, hops, and resin. Taste has a heavy orange presence a little sweet on the tongue with a dry and mildly bitter finish that doesn’t linger. Amazing beer
