On tap at Grumpy’s NE pours a hazy copper with a small off-white head. Aroma of peaches, tropical fruits, citrus, and resinous pine. Taste of heavy peaches, tropical fruits, lots of citrus and resinous hops (dank), a sticky texture. with graham cracker and some rye malt. Doesn’t taste like 10.5% ABV, this went down fast. Nice!!!!!

Pours golden orange with a thin white head. The nose is def 4:20. Just danky chronic, light citrus and just a hint of tropical fruit. The taste high sweet and medium bitter. The texture is creamy at first with a little pop after. The body is heavy and the finish is long. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft on tap at Tribes Alehouse (Mokena, IL). Pours a deeper ruby copper pour, darker body, good reddish copper glow, light haziness. A frothy tannish head atop dies to a film, laces thicker and well. Aromas are fruity, big tropical fruit presence, mango and grapefruit, melon and juicy fruit. Some bready malt, a bit bigger with florals, grass, some dankness. A lot of fruit. Initial is medium bodied, a bit fuller, some strong bitterness meets fruity hops, citrus and tropical fruit meld well. Some florals, gentle pine. A firm malt bill beneath supports, makes it a bit bigger but not a malty girthy beast. The hops and their flavors still lead the way. A bit of fuzzy peach, melon, and bready pale malts into the middle. Firm bitterness, florals and some citrus. More earthy bitter slant into the backend and finish. A bit grainy, some dry earth, gentle pine. Some "pizza spice" hopping, gentle dankness. A touch of ABV related heat as we finish up finally makes it’s way through. A big beer, the sweetness doesn’t take over though, but comes in spurts among a good fruit presence. It’s an impressive beer though but not necessarily the route I take with my personal DIPA preferences. A lot of flavor. Great nose. Not bad. Happy 4/20 (or in my case, 4/21).

4/20/2013. Draft. Concentrated hop aromas and flavors... I'm guessing Nelson Sauvin hops are in the mix.. Tropical fruit overtones, with undercut of fresh onion and dank... Good. Alcohol is well hidden.. Balanced and not to heavy on the palate. Although this is nearing a triple IPA IMO. Another Great beer from Lagunitas. Yum. --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

Chub fill picked up this afternoon from the fine folks at Bar Gernika in downtown Boise... Poured tonight into my slim tulip... off white head has nice retention with good lacing for the entire glass... the brew is clear orange. Nose shows tons of pithy grapefruit and almost as much piney hoppiness... slight maltiness shows bits of toast... but the malts are beat down by the hops... sweet tropical fruity hoppiness shows with warmth... loving this one. Tropical fruit bowl hops on the palate remind me of mangoes and papaya.. tangerine zest, but still plenty of grapefruit.. the pale malts combine with some dry toast and deliver the hops nearly perfectly.. This is nearly perfect right now... fresh and wonderful. Body is heavier than a standard West Coast DIPA.. but I honestly think it adds to the drinkability in this sense.. enjoy this one right now, because the malts will come out swinging as the hops die back.

Hazed amber/copper pour with a white head. Sweet caramel, sugar, pineapple, and peach aromas. Grapefruit, pine, flowers, and some brown sugar. Maybe a bit of alcohol. The flavor is a touch boozy, but excellent fruit and hop character. Brown sugar, caramel, pineapple, peach, and nice grapefruit. Mild bitterness, pine, and floral hops.

On tap at 16 tons A: Cloudy rusted copper color with a thin head. Some nice legs. N: Wow. Very dank. Some grapefruit and pineapple. Really, really herbal and grassy. Big caramel notes hold up the nose. Peppercorns, ginger, and floral notes. T: Hop bomb with a lot of malt notes. Incredibly huge. Bitterness hits on the backend with mixed tropical fruits. House yeast character is prevalent. M: Very sticky and resinous. Heavy mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. O: This is a slap you in the face, take your wallet beer. It’s excellent. It’ll definitely take its toll. Nice.

On tap at Belmont Station. Colour...a deep, orange-amber with a tiny of garnet and a very thick off-white head. Nose...husky, crushed hops, hop resin grapefruit skin and damp fresh hay. Palate...intensely sweet from front to back with an intensely sweat-like character that’s actually better than it sounds! Quince and pith are prominent up front, but overall, this ale definitely has a strong leaning towards the grapefruit side as opposed to the piney side. This is a viscous ale which, coupled with the sweetness, might make it seem like a dessert ale (and perhaps it is!).

Pours a clear golden color with an off white head. It has a very clean, candied grapefruit bouquet. It has a wonderful grapefruit forward flavor. There’s a nearly perfect mouthfeel for the style. It’s very complimentary to the flavors. No discernible alcohol warmth. This is a magnificent beer.
