WTF Ale. A malty, robust, jobless Recovery Ale! We’re not quite in the Red, or in the Black... Does that mean we’re in the Brown?

A big Ol’ Imperial Brown Ale to help you with your slipperly slide on into springtime. Rich, smooth, dangerous & chocolatey.

Pours a red amber with an off white head and aroma of caramel, fruits, and malt. Taste is sweet, of dried fruits, caramel, bread, malt, and toffee with a caramelish finish. Very good brown ale

The Nose is of pine, citrus, and earth. The taste starts with pine & citrus notes up front, being quickly met by a strong malt backbone. The finish is nutty & hoppy, a typical Lagunitas hop finish. It’s listed as an "Imperial Brown Ale" but tastes more like an Imperial Red.

Good hoppy brown ale, smooth caramel and slight roast notes, i guess its a jobless recovery ale for me.

Shared bottle at local tasting. Pours clear mahogany with a small head. Aroma of brown malt, intense, some hops and roast. Taste is also lots of brown malts, chocolate, toffee and yeast. Medium bodied. Nice overall.

Pours deep amber, thick one finger head thick lacing. Floral hops, doughy malt, bit of tropical fruit on the nose. Doughy malt, slightly bitter floral, tropical hops up front pine, citrus, floral hops, more doughy malt mid mouth, finish is bitter sweet with mostly floral hops. Medium body and carbonation, no alcohol presence, slightly fruity finish. Overall very good beer, very complex, yet balanced, no one aspect stands out, which helps and hurts this beer, very tasty and drinkable though, for $5.99/bomber I’ll be drinking more of this!

Billed as a brown ale but amped with west coast hops. Alcohol is hidden and will sneak up on you fast if you are not careful. More American pale sle than brown ale. Pours deep brown with a small ring of beige head. Nice earthy malt background. Solid.

BlackIPA (716) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAY 11, 2013
Pours a clear very dark red with a substantial off white head. Aromas of some very light roast along with the signature lagunitas hop profile aroma. Taste is pretty straight forward... Not quite enough roast to be a black IPA, but the hop level is certainly there. Pretty good stuff, sorry I scrolled past this one for so long.

Draught. Cloudy brown pour with a thin off white head. Earthy hoppy aroma with some faint brown sugar and malt present. Medium body with a snappy hop finish. Lots of hops for a brown, but thats what they were going for.

Bomber, pours clear brown and white head. Nose is all hops, nice floral pine citrus aroma. Hop bitterness and pine flavor is primary to malt. Aroma is so prominent that it pushes hop profile to forefront on every sip. Finish is of lingering hops and it makes me want more. Really digging this.

Bottle. Pours clear dark brown with a small beige head that thins quickly leaving nice lacing. Smells of bread, caramel and dough. Taste is medium bitterness and lightly sour with a light to medium body and lively carbonation leading to a long bitter finish.
