WTF Ale. A malty, robust, jobless Recovery Ale! Were not quite in the Red, or in the Black... Does that mean were in the Brown?

A big Ol Imperial Brown Ale to help you with your slipperly slide on into springtime. Rich, smooth, dangerous & chocolatey.

Bottle. Another nice brew from Langunitas. Probably not the best choice on a 90 degree day, but with a couple of home grilled burgers its a great fit. It pours a deep dark mahogany brown with a nice 2 finger tan head that laces well as it goes down. The aroma is of sweet dark fruits and heavy malts with a nice nutty malty flavor on the tongue that has a nice bitter hoppy finish. I can get really get into brews that balance both the sweetness of the malt and the bitterness of the hops. All to often a dark brew is too heavy on the malt. This one is not. A great brew for red meat. Highly recommended.

On tap at ABV Pub in Hillsboro, OR. Clear brown with white head. Biscuit and slight caramel aroma and taste. Not bitter. Malty but not sweet. Medium mouthfeel.

Deep brown with amber halo. Aroma is tea, leather, and tobacco. Taste is tea and pine. I like. Not over the top.

Clear brown, dark amber with orange edges, tan head. Interesting aroma with ripe plums, sun tea, hints of shoe, treacle, cocoa and cigar tobacco. Great feel, full body, rich chewy malts, cotton candy, resinous hops, plenty of tea, nice lingering pine tar aftertaste. Very good, I could drink this often!

Delicious! Nice hoppy brown with tons of flavor. On draft at the Pataluma tap house. Try it! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark copper color with a bone colored head. Head is moderately sized but rather clingy to the glass. Caramel and citrus aromas abound. Im not a big fan of this combination, but Im sure there are many who find it quite enjoyable. Light sweet start with caramel and grapefruit flavors. Its not like a grapefruit with caramelized sugar on top, more grapefruit dipped in caramel. Im thinking more and more like this is just a hop juiced strong amber. OK STFU and drink MrFr. Know what Im saying. 6/10

Tap at new bohemia. Short pour. Light amber with medium white fuzzy head. Malty nose. Really nice balance. Malt but well balanced. High sugar. Great body. Liked it.

Stereotypical ale up front followed by a deep, yet suttle, chocolate and coffee notes. Good but dont need to find again.

On tap at Butcher and the Boar in the Beer Garden. Brown in color like the rich color youd find on a dresser at HOM Furniture. Plenty of head...like a half finger. Aroma has some elements of dark fruit and sweetness but is overall more muted than expected. Taste leans on sugary notes with chocolate, cherry, and maybe prune. Finish almost feels like it has coffee characteristics. Very roasted malt presence throughout. Slight oily mouthfeel with a nice finish. Feels like a starter version of a Belgian variety. There are better Lagunitas options but I still enjoy it more than most.
