4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Medium reddish amber color. Medium white foamy head. Aroma is hoppy and sweet. A medium to full bodied American String Ale. Interesting beer it is malty and sweet enough for the malt lover and still is hoppy enough for a hophead. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are grapefruity and piney. I can feel the extra carb load already. I’m glad someone is NOT catering to the Adkins diet craze. Nicely balanced. Very smooth taste. Nice semi-dry finish. It would make an excellent session beer if the alcohol was a little lower, but I will drink this one often. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly sweet, with a very slightly alcohol bite.

22 oz. bottle pours a reddish brown hue with a one finger head; decent lace. Big floral, perfumy hop smell. Taste is a mild butter scotch sweetness quickly followed by a nice tart grapefruity bitterness to finish. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. not bad. sept 2004

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Distinctve dry ale with a bit of larger moutfeel. Maybe it is just the hop combo but you gets hints of biscuit, apricot or corriander. Super fluffy head. Session brew.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep copper with some orange in colour, lingering creamy tan coloured head, good lacing, lots of sediment. The aroma is nicely balanced with the citrus hops and caramel malts, some pine in there as well. The flavour has lots of citrus - mainly oranges - lots of pine, quite bitter, some caramel sweetness, very small amounts of alcohol detected. Dry bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes long and bitter, very dry. I like the balance in this one, enjoyable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz bomber is what I had on hand to taste this with my brother, while visiting on Labor Day and charring up some cow meat. Aroma was just a bit better than average with an up front malty aroma, but there was some hops in the background. They were faint, but there if you dug a little deep. Appearance for me could have been higher, but we had a TON of floaties in my bottle so that took a minor hit. It was dark amber colored, nice off-white head so not bad. Mouthfeel is what really I found intriguing with this beer because of the creamy nature of a strong ale at 7% (okay, okay...6.9% precisely) but it wasn’t overly harsh in any way. Flavors were slightly sweet, but nicely balanced between hops and malts with a bit more bitterness coming around going down. My overall impressions with this beer is that it IS good and very drinkable.

Bottle poured orange with a huge thick creamy head that lasted the life of the beer and sticky lacing..Tons of floaties!!.
Aroma is malt, hops and citrus.
Flavor is hops and caramel with a bit of a watery body but good overall.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy dark amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty (cookie, toasted bread), moderately hoppy (apricot, resin). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lighlty sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Perhaps a little old (presumably from last May/June, but not oxidized smelling at all yet), but still enjoyable...just not extra special. Will likely re-rate when a fresher batch arrives.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Ho hum boring beer. Same lagunitas signature nose. "not a fan", some diacetyl off flavor sweetness and odd spice.

1.4 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Big floaties, clear orange. Head was non existent. Aroma was skunked. Sharp hop bite, otherwise, unremarkable.
