Bottle 33 cl. Pours black with small fast vanishing brown tan head. At first taste is very smooth and rounded with some harsh in it and a nice alcohol warmth. Notes of roasted malts, salty licorice, coffee, dark chocolate. Slightly too harsh at end. Needs something to balance the harsh aftertaste with. After getting used to it the harsh aftertaste mellows down a bit revealing more tasting sides of this one.

330 ml bottle at home thanks to VastActiv. Black color with nice beige brown head. Roasted malty aroma, soy sauce, bready, licorice, oat, wood, vegetables? Sweet and bitter taste like aroma, metallic notes too. Medium to full oily silky body with soft carbonation, dry, bitter coffee aftertaste.

Thanks to Jan (rosenbergh) for this one hand-carried to Hawaii from Finland! Motor oil brown and thick with a brown head. Smokey, black licorice, cocoa. Rich chewy malts, treacle, earthy (peat?) Sweet but balanced with light bittering hops and hints of smoke, quite tasty! A thick, rich & strong beer. I do like this one but then again, I love Impy Stouts!

Bottle from Alko, Helsinki. Black body with brown coffee-colored top. Aroma of espresso and salty licorice. Taste follows the aroma quite nicely, adding roasted malts and slight smoke. Palate is quite full with a somewhat oily texture. Mouthfeel is rich and balanced (as you would expect from a Finnish Imperial Stout). Overall it’s a good beer (Imperial Stouts rarely let you down), though there are plenty of better Imperial Stouts.

330 ml bottle shared by Kavu, thanks!
Almost black body, with a quite small, dense, coffee-colored head.
Aroma of espresso, bitter chocolate, liquorice, dried fruits, some smoke.
Taste follows this, with a pleasantly dry roastiness.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes roasty, dry, with espresso, bitter chocolate, liquorice, slight smoke.

Very nice. Straight and pleasantly dry, with really enjoyable espresso notes. Also some well integrated smoke notes, that give it more depth. Not among the best Imperial Stouts I’ve had, but a tasty style example I would gladly drink again.

Dark reddish brown, almost black colour with a little dark tan-coffee colour head. Looks really inviting. Aroma: alcoholic, liquorice, raisins, a little bit rotten fruit-banana notes, spices, roasted. Taste: really strong bitter coffee beans, bitter dark cacao, weird but somehow along with others, I smell and taste rotten fruits-banana from this beer almost like a weed beer. Has bitter coffee aftertaste. Goes really good with chocolate dessert.

0,33 l pullo @ Werkmeister’s place. Kauniin punertavan tummanruskea. Tuoksussa mausteisuutta, pehmeää paahteisuutta, aavistus savua. Rusinaa säilöttyä tummaa hedelmää. Maussa selvästi kahvia, karvasta tummaa suklaata. Kuivattua luumua.
