Draught (Helsinki Beer Festival 2009) - Copper brown in colour. Fruity aroma with hints of Dundee cake. Fruity and slightly hoppy taste with raisins and other dried fruits.

Bottled (BB 11/2009).
Thanks oh6gdx. Interesting innovation from Laitila - Easter beer brewed with traditional Finnish easter food, mämmi (memma). Clear amber color, small beige head. Metallic, bready malty nose with some sweetness in it too. Malty and grainy flavor with hints of rye and light caramelly note. No mämmi found. Malty aftertaste. Taste is actually closer to Finnish main stream pale lagers than sweeter viennas.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
0.5 l bottle, thanks Hannu N! Amber color with quickly vanishing head. Sweetish malty aroma with weird unpleasant mushroom note. Malty, bready and metallic flavor with hints of rye. Light bodied with some astringency. Unpleasant metallic, grainy, mushroomy and astringent finish. On draught at Gastropub Jalo this tasted like just another bland vienna, but this bottle is simply repulsive.

Milky aroma, some toffee too. Bright clear red. A tad vegetal and mushroomy, but I was able to overlook that after a few sips. Becomes sweeter and more like a simple dunkel. Finish is sweet too. Not as horrific as the others make it out to be. Has nothing to do with mämmi at all.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
500 ml bottle. Clear amber orange colour, not much head to speak of. Simple, sweet malty aroma. The flavour is malty, sweet, with a very prominent and disturbing vegetable-like component. An uninteresting beer that certainly doesn’t live up to its name: no matter how hard I tried, I could not find anything even distantly like mämmi in this "Worlds first and best beer brewed with Mämmi" (quoting the label).

1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Oh dear, not really looking forward to this after having read the previous ratings. Pretty nice amber color, not much head. Aroma is very weird. It isn´t really mämmi, it´s more sweetness such as caramel and even butter - but in a very bad way. Quite repulsive. Flavor is pretty much the same. An awful buttery vegetable taste is dominant. Horrible.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Clear, brownish copper beer with a thin white head. The nose has a hint of malt and hops. The aroma has some rye malts and caramel but no mämmi. Slightly hoppy and metallic in the finish. The flavor is sweetish malty and has some butter and caramel. Very light bitterness. Light to medium bodied and quite soft palate. The idea of makin mämmi-beer was great but maybe they forgot to put mämmi in the kettle...

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
(Bottled) Clear, deep copper with a small, tanned head. Very mild aroma of caramely, lightly roasty malt when cold. Some mämmi and hints of pea-soup coming up with warming. Caramely, slightly sweet malt, and some rye in the flavor. Metallic, especially when cold. Light to medium, not watery body with soft carbonation. Not something I’d find interesting enough to drink for other than rating reasons - but, IMO, definitely not as repulsive as others say. In blind tasting, this could be mixed with any random Vienna from Hartwall.

Man this is just vile. The smell is yucky sweet and has plenty of off notes of eathy shitty liver sausage goodness. There’s no mämmi in this, just veggies. Fuck the wind power and everything., laitila really fucked it up this time. Draaaaain pouuuur....
