Bottle from gnoff. Poured very dark brown with a thick tan head that dissolved quickly. Nose is extremely sweet molasses caramel and a hit of coconut. Malty sweet dark roast coffee, pumpernickel bread, and licorice in the taste. Sweet taste to start but a bit of a dry bitter finish.

8.3.2014. As Kievari Portteri. Mild and sour aroma has cacao and coffee. Taste has slight roastness with dry bitterness, some salted liquorice and cacao. Actually a bit burnt taste. Surprisingly light bodied. Sourness and bitterness seem artificial. No great feelings.

Black-brown body, beige head, crocheted curtains inside the mug. Aroma; dark juicy malts, fermented prune juice, faint grassy hops. Taste; dark malts, juicy malts, dark chocolate, mocca coffee, cocoa. Chocolate and dark dried fruits dominates finish. Blended on palate, flourish spots, soft carbonation. Overall I wasn’t that sure about the EBU anymore. But it was 2 months past BB. [33cl brown bottle, Kievari Portteri, flopcap, abv6.5%, EBU50, B@Alko, BB29082014]

Enjoyed as Kievari Portteri, small bottle.Dark coffee like brown color. Small stable light brown head. The flavor is slightly sweet, roasted coffee, reminding Finnish Easter pudding (mämmi). Low carbonation, quite pleasant. Bit boring porter but enjoyable.

Perinteisen oloinen Portteri. Vähän enemmän runkoa kaipaisi. Hiukan ponneton. Alkoholi maistui liikaa.

Bottle from Euro Swap 3 [thanks to Rosenbergh] @ home. Very dark brown color, medium sized tan head that diminishes fairly quickly but leaves good lacing. Aroma and taste malts, liquorice, chocolate, nicely bitter, some vanilla. A bit thin bodied maybe, suitable carbonation. Like it.

0.33 bottle. Very dark brown color and a small, off-white head. Smell of dark malts, chocolate, dark bread; quite hackneyed but not bad at all. Taste is obviously full of malts, some chocolate and roast aromas, somewhat sweet but has an underlying bitterness too. Medium body, I would expect a full one from a Baltic porter, kind of thick texture, and soft carbonation. Finish is more bitter than the rest, has a stronger porter-like character. Overall the beer is alright, a bit too watery and does not have a strong porter character.

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2014 Totally black beer with a beige head dissolving fast leaving lacing on the glass. Aroma has dark malts, loafy dark bread, chocolate, coffee and the kind of a manure aroma usual to porters at cold temperatures. Flavor has loafy maltiness, and chocolaty sweetness with some roastiness. Mouthfeel is little fuller than medium and pretty carbonated. Finish is medium long and moderately bitter with some roastiness. A well made baltic porter without the usual annoying Laitila house flavors or aromas.

Body is very dark, almost black in color, with a small quickly disappearing beige head that laces nicely. Nose has intense notes of roasted malts and coffee beans, a distinct metallic note is also distinguishable. Taste is fairly dry with strong roasted notes and a mild dry finish with some cocoa notes. Carbonation is soft and fluffy, palate is slightly syrupy. Overall pretty nice, but there are better to be had at the same price.
