Rune (1508), Tromsø, Norway Jul 5, 2008 500ml bottle, thanks to Finn. Frothy, fawn coloured head, with medium retention and fragile laceworks, resting on a black-brown body. Chocolate malts to the nose added a peaty touch. Roasted sweet dark malts in flavour mixed with a dash of anise leading to an ending of bitter coffee notes. The first glass is highly drinkable. However, after a while in the glass this Finish Porter lost most of its distinctive smell and taste(at home, 04.07.2008).
mikkopen (100), Oulu, Finland Aug 28, 2008 500 ml bottle. Deep dark reddish brown colour, thin beige head. Nice roasted aroma with some chocolate. Burned malts, chocolate and some coffee in the flavour. Bitter finish. Mitch_Wayne (100), Kokkola, Finland Aug 22, 2008 Hello I am from Kokkola and I am drinking Kukko beer! Ei kovin kolkkoa! Laitila goes baltic porter here and doesn’t mess it up too badly. Three bottles we had with brothers at first were quite confusing, the vegetal taste didn’t fit the coffee scent at all so it felt like being with a dirt cannon while you expect a cup of joe. Now everything seems to be in order and we gots the roasty malts, sweetness and hops, a soft mouthfeel and no kekkilän kukkamulta this time. janir (161), Oulu, Finland Aug 19, 2008 Very dark reddish brown color with small and a little lacy. A bit sweet Aroma is roasty malty, hoppy with rye. Flavor is burned malts, rye, chocolate. Finishing is bitter. Alcohol warms nicely. Medium-bodied and smoothly carbonated palate. Marsiblursi (1400), Göteborg, Sweden Aug 18, 2008 (Bottle) Pours dark brown. The aroma is medium roasted with tones of caramel, dark bread and light chocolate. Liquorice and sweet dark berries are also present. The flavour is light to medium roasted with tones of chocolate and light caramel alongside notes of liquorice, violet and some dark fruitiness. Bit hoppy and quite malty. Medium sweet and light bitter. The mouthfeel is soft with a light dry and sticky finish. Medium bodied.
omhper (10438), Stockholm, Sweden Aug 18, 2008 Bottled, thanks oh6gdx! Very black, small beige head. Aroma of sark chocolate and coffee. Medium sweet with dense malt. Lots of heavily roasty ground coffee. Long salty bitterness. Typical Baltic Porter with it’s simple but powerful flavour, that otherwise less interesting brewers seem to master. This is really good! Laitilan Wirvoitusjuomatehdas are certainly moving in the right direction!
