COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India Pale Ale: Old school version of an IPA. Still balanced; not a ‘one trick pony’ pale. Named after the country song “It’s hard to kiss the lips at night that chew your ass out all day long”.

On tap at the Thirsty Troll Brewfest

There wasn’t much to get excited about at this festival but it was a nice chance to try a number of beers I’ve always glossed over. This was one that falls in that camp. I found it good but not exactly what I was hoping. Still if you happen to be in the neighborhood of Madison pick up a bottle.

Aroma / Appearance - The transparent carbonated body was a light yellow with a short lived head. Lemons, grass and wheat were evident but not as strong as I was expecting from an IPA.

Flavor / Palate - The body was thick and bitter. This beer tastes better than it smells. Grassy hops yield to a florally pine aftertaste that then fades in the back of the throat. It’s not bad but I found it kind of bland on the whole.

clear amber, wispy white head, drops of lace, sweet citrus aroma with sweet pine, sweet caramel malt flavor with lots of sweet citrus hops, nice long bitter finish that gives the hop flavor plenty of time before it kicks in,

12 oz bottle via skyview (thanks!). Pours a hazy amber with a huge chunky beige head. Nose is lemony and floral hops. Taste is piney and dry with a dash of lemon and pear. Very dry finish and quite a bit of pine in the aftertaste. Body is light, carbonation is moderate/high.

12oz bottle. pours dense golden with white head. nose has hop notes of leather and pepper. flavor is leathery and peppery hop notes with hints of caramel malts as the backbone. a solid english style ipa, although ipas are best with pnw hops i still enjoy this for it’s freshness and balance.

12oz bottle, courtesy of Ughsmash. Thanks, Jason! Pours a murky, orangish-brown color; fluffy, off-white head with good retention and fine-bubbled lacing. Dense, resiny orange and citrus hops in the aroma; some tea-like malts following behind. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: pleasant dry and resiny hop presence upfront (citrus, slight pine), showing a lively jolt on the tip of the tongue, with a chewy sugary core showing through at mid-palate; overall, a lively hop profile with enough balance. Lengthy, mouthdrying, bitter citrus finish.

12 oz bottle. Clear orange, off-white head. Potent nose of orange candies and tea. Moderate carb, medium light body with resin. Bitter apple juice with mild sourness. Develops grapefruit pith and peel. Residual green grass.

Pours a nice amber/gold color. Has a light citrus and Basset Hound smell. The taste has some bite up front with a piney/citrusy/bitter taste. An easy drinking IPA but I prefer some others.

Bottle. Orange amber body with some dark yeasties. Caramelly orange slice candy aroma with a more leafy, stemmy flavor but retaining the same sweet base. Overall a nicely citric IPA but the hops could jump out a lot more.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with Brigadier (thanks!). Poured a medium and hazy orange color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, pineapple, light pine and lightly earthy. Tastes of orange, pine, and lightly spicey. Thinner body. I found the tastes to be a little on the thin side and somewhat of a let down compared to the aromas.
