AKA Liquid Reefer. Thirsty Troll Brew Fest. Pour is copper with a khaki head. Aroma shows toffee, red fruit, light earth, and plenty of fresh hops. Flavor shows the same with plenty of berries and caramel. Overall body is moderate, and finishes with moderate bitterness. All in all pretty good, but unlike any scotch ale that i’ve ever had.

On tap. It is a relatively weak scotch ale as far as body is concerned, it has an okay flavor.

12oz bottle-trade hbmason and I did with madvike-pours a thin to a ring off white head and dark amber color. Aroma is medium malt-caramel, dark fruit-raisin, brown sugar. Taste is medium malt-caramel, dark fruit-raisin, brown sugar, secondary herbal/earthy hops.

12oz bottle - bonus from Kyle in a trade. Fair reddish brown, creamy light tan head. Booze (scotch), mild peat, some fruit notes and a bit of mustiness. Nice carbonation, slightly dry mouthfeel with a medium to light body, a balanced/restrained sweetness just below the surface but something slightly off in the finish (almost a bit of a sour) that throws the palate off and takes away from what would otherwise be a decent beer.

Poured into a snifter. 3.0 A: Opaque deep amber brown color. I could only muster about a 1/4 inch of beige head, which quickly fell. 2.0 S: This smells pretty damn weird. Unfortunately, disgusting vegetal aromas hit first and they hit hard. After that there’s some peat and caramel. The cooked vegetable component is so strong that it blocks out most of the other aromas. 1.5 T: Taste is off as well. Tart smokiness, caramel, sherry, veggies, and brown sugar. 3.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Not bad here. 1.5 D: I’m pretty sure I got a bad bottle. If I didn’t, then I don’t understand the other reviews. This tastes like a noob’s homebrew. Lake Louie reserve scotch ale 2009. 12oz bottle shared by Andrew... Pours a toffee caramel brown, dull, and no head... Aroma of must, a hint of sour, and a cedar wood type of feel... Sweet and sour sauce that doesn’t go down that well. 5/2/4/2/8

12oz bottle poured into my Darkness glass...Pours a deep and shiny mahogany, very nice. The head is light tan, only lasts for about a minute and leaves a very thin film behind. Light lacing. Actually pretty carbonated, just give it a swirl and watch it go...The aroma starts off with scotch mostly, a little rye, and peat creep in, semi malty. Ok, nothing special yet...Not a fan of the taste at all. Cheap scotch, burns, a little smoke on the finish. Mostly skunk and grain alcohol...The feel is really light, borderline water. Not a huge scotch fan to begin with, but these does nothing to help change my mind, nor is it a good representation of the stye. Pass for me.

Thanks to Santa for this. Pours a dirty brown with a thinning white head. Little lacing. Aroma is boozy, dates and caramel. Taste is a blast of alcohol with some dates and caramel along with lots of malt. Sickly sweet and astringent in the aftertaste. I could do without this.

Pours a clean copper brown with one finger of light tan head. Nose is bad, real bad. Probably infected, wangy fruit and burnt sugar. Vinous. Flavor is awful, tart and awful. Fail.

[Bottle] courtesy of Madvike. Thanks Matt! Pours a clear deep caramel brown with smallish tan head. Aroma is full of caramel, a touch of butterscotch, some light smokiness, and a touch of earthiness. The flavor is sweet, caramelly, moderate mouthfeel, just a hair too much carbonation, but otherwise a pretty nice beer. Pretty smooth with a sweet finish.
