3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Blind tasting at Papsø’s
Very dark, almost black color; medium head. There is some dusty aroma of roasted malts, barley coffee, light acidity. Good mouthfeel, quite smooth, but also too acidic, with quite strong roasted malt flavor, but a bit too dry and sour at the end; strong chocolate flavor too; the final is a bit creamy, which elevates a bit the fortune of this beer.

From bottle, blind #20. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Dry wooden hoppy aroma, light roasted too. Liqourice, roasted malt and subdued sweetness to a distinct crisp hoppy base flavour. Bitter and roasted malt flavoured finish with a lasting liqourice impression. Nice one.

Bottle in trade from abents. Thanks! Pours dark brown to black with beige short lived head. Smell i s fudge, and light chocolate and maybe vanilla. Taste is nutty, a touch of thin chocolate, light bitterness and alcohol. No way this is 12%, still. Incredibly thin body for an imperial stout. Like water...Medium amount of carbonation. Nothing offensive, but this is way too thin to be an imperial stout.

It’s about time! Pours a pitch black colour with a very small brown head. Aroma is nutty, smokey, dark roasted malts and burned toast on the nose. Taste is awesome- once it hits your lips it tastes so good! Down like a piece of chocolate chip ice cream. Creamy, smooth and full of smokey flavors.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAR 8, 2009 Imperial dry stout. Ink black pour. The beige head is thin but what’s there is retained well. Aroma of dust and ash, and oddly, grape soda. Flavor is dusty, ashen, heavily roasted. There’s sweetness here, but in the vein of a horehound or licorice candy. Thin bodied but interesting palate: warming and cooling sensations fight it out to a draw.
