3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sweet malt with a savory saltiness like soy sauce. Tickleish hoppiness. Faily typical, but well done and hides the alcohol well.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour from a 12 oz bottle - thanks Bob! Dark brown pour that is slightly reddish. Tan head is creamy. Nose is massive chocolate and dark fruit. This beer might be infected, but in a good way - sour cherry, chocolate and a slightly sour finish works really well with the sweet malts. This seems to be a happy accident, for me anyway!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. bottle, consumed on 3-18-13. Scents of chocolate-covered raisin, dust, milk chocolate, mocha, coffee, and toffee. Pours a nearly black dark brown with a deep amber hue and a small amount of beige head. Excessively sweet, sugary taste features flavors of dark chocolate, coffee, bonfire, caramel, and brown sugar. Roasted, lightly bitter aftertaste. Full-bodied and lively in the palate. Overall, okay, but not very good at all by the high standards of the style.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Smokey aroma and flavors, with notes of a German rauchbier and salami. Less chocolate than other imperial stouts. Finish lingers with some of the chocolate, especially as it warms. Sourness comes out when paired with salty food (in this case I was eating pistachios); milky notes. Not the worst imperial stout but not a great one either. Bottle.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from 12oz bottle, pours a very dark brown that has a nice red hue when you hold it up to the light, a thick tan head and lacing through the entire glass, aroma has a ton of chocolate on the nose with some burnt tobacco notes coming through as well, but I really dig it, the flavor has a nice amount of chocolate on the front end with a little bit of coffee coming through as well, the abv comes through a little bit in the finish but wouldn’t think this one is 12% by any means, mouthfeel is thick, really enjoyed this, good freaking stuff.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from O’Reilly’s in late summer. Pours thickish looking very dark brown to black colour, with a bit of white head. Aroma, some roast and chocolate. Above average mouthfeel, though not at today’s standard of IS.Good drinkability, competent for the style.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours like a porter: black, with some dark brown, even translucent highlights along the edges of the glass. Small tan head. Good lacing and legs. Nose is a bit of chocolate, roasted malts, touch of anise. More licorice notes on the tongue, distinct burnt hazelnut hint, clean. Somewhat thin mouthfeel. Good for the money, but...it’s okay.

3.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle. Pours almost black with little head. Aroma of roast and a little dark fruit? Taste is mellow, in neither a good or bad way. Not bad but I expected a bit more.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle pours deep brown/black with a beige head. Aroma is cocoa, tobacco, dark fruit, and vanilla. Flavor shows more roast malt than present in the nose, as well as light coffee, and a touch of liquorice. Overall body is moderate to full, and the alc is hidden extremely well.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
The vanilla flavor stands out and the aroma was sweet and soil-y, in a good way. The abv didn’t get in the way despite the imperial status. Very dark and still easy to drink. I liked it, my first from this brewery, and I’m excited to try others from Lake Louie.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle from Steve’s Liquor and More in Madison, WI. Pours a very deep brown, mostly black colored body with a finger-width, creamy, light brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is sweeter with a good amount of soft roasts, cocoa, and dark fruits. Some caramel, creamy vanilla, a touch of lactose sweetness, and a decent floral hopping. Flavor is similar. Sweeter cocoas, caramel, and dark fruits up front with a good amount of soft roasts. A pleasant, light floral hoppiness throughout offering a light bitterness before this dries nicely with some roasts and a touch of wood. A light vanilla and lactose along with plenty of cocoa, caramel, and dark fruit in a lengthy, dry, roasty aftertaste. Medium, smooth body and soft, moderate carbonation. Absolutely no hint of the 12% ABV. Pretty incredible. Overall, a really solid imperial stout. Not the most complex, but this hides the alcohol superbly. Good beer.
