3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 cblado (221) - Washington, USA - DEC 25, 200712 oz bottle. Earthy, nutty aroma, not unpleasant. Had a slight tan head. Medium-to-thin mouthfeel. Robust malted flavor, with a very bitter nutty aftertaste. A good porter, one of the earthier ones I’ve had.

Aroma is heavy on the malt, but with hints of blackberries and stone fruit. A delicious malt flavor underneath the steady carbonation. Finish is medium to dry, with hints of coffee and a nice gravity. Liked it a lot, had on draft at the Weary Traveler in Madison, Wisconsin.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 starewich (118) - - DEC 13, 2012
Lots of head. Unexpectedly fruity, very smooth. Finishes coffee. I had this a long time ago and could swear it used to have some soy sauce taste in it, but I don’t notice any this time. Solid average porter.

Bottle. Aroma- Malty, nutty, some banana and faint berry. Appearance- Black, opaque, with a tan, frothy head. Taste- Smoky, coffee, nutty, dark berry, slightly salty. Palate- Full bodied and rich, average carbonation, with an astringent, long, bitter finish. Pretty solid porter, though the smoky finish almost tends toward a burnt flavor the further into the glass you get.

A very nice porter. Slightly thicker mouthfeel than average. The chocolatey sweetness is potent and the roasted element tempers it. Tried at the Cunigan’s tasting party in Oct of 2012.

Dark brown coloured body with a very thin, fast-dying slightly off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, toffee, caramel, nuts and a bit of earth - fairly strong, but all good. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong sweet flavour at first with a good roasted malt flavour with an earthy and slightly pungent bite soon afterwards. Aftertaste shows some good qualities and a nice complexity with chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and earth very noticeable. Overall, a nice complex and roust porter - a great beer, especially for the style.I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Ridgeview Liqours in Green Bay, Wisconsin for US$1.79 sampled at my hotel room in Green Bay on 29-July-2012.

black, tan foam, medium sweetness, medium bitterness, full body, lively. As porters go I felt this was on the lighter side which is nice during the summer months when you want the flavor of a porter but not so much weight to it. I will definitely buy again.

12 oz. bottle into 16 oz. snifter. Light tan head average at first, never completely dissipates. Roasty aroma, with hints of coffee and chocolate. Smooth, medium/full body, with flavors that progress toward slight bitterness as it stays on the palate. Very drinkable.
