3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Ruddy brown opaque pour with a nice even head, slightly creamy in nature. Specks of yeast distort the ruddy color and detract from the overall appearance. The nose is pleasant with hints of apricot and pear, and the flavor is light and airy with a hint of nutty cheese and light coffee. The finish is slightly weak, as the alcohol feels as though it evaporates the lingering malts right off the tongue.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
From the bottle showed little head, as is the style. Flavors that agree wth me, slight chocolate. Great body and mouth feel. Not too sweet to drink multiple servings, but high enough in alcohol not to drink too many. Have had it from the tap at The Shed (in Spring Green), and wish I could post a review while drink the tap. I’ll take notes next time. One of my favorite beers.

3.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
From the bottle. Scotch style ale. Pours with a weak head. Subtle aroma hints of roasted malt alcohol content apparent. Dark yet translucent with an appealing color. Strong roasty malt flavor without being too sweet. Strong finish. Medium body. Warms my stomach.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
From a 12-oz. bottle, this pours a deep brown with amber edges. Small light tan head that disappears fairly quickly Appears to be clear though there ain’t much light making it through. Nothing big going on in the aroma. Caramel in the initial taste, followed up by a chocolatey-nutty taste and maybe a hint of plums. Very smooth & moderately carbonated mouthfeel. Nice!

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks a lot for the sample, Duane. Poured with a thin khaki colored head and a dark amber body. The aroma was slightly smoky tobacco with some chocolate and peat. This showed a decently smoked beer. The taste had smoky peat with toffee and chocolate. Plenty of carbonation in the mouthfeel. Nicely done and one of the more smoky Scottish Ales I have tried.

Many layered, peaty, astringent, smoky, etc. Looks great in the glass. Some medicinal notes from peat-smoked barley no doubt. Hits and misses.

Bottle at the brewery. Clear light cola color with some bubbles on the outer rung. Aroma of cardboard, scotch, peat, caramel and mixed nuts. Nice sweet glide onto the palate, flavored with caramelized pecans, hazelnut shells and a divine match made in heaven combo with its choice of malts. Butterscotch and chocolate toffee ride atop all flavors in the end. Enriching and admirable.
