Pours a slightly hazy reddish brown, light auburn. Medium frothy creamy beige head. Aroma is malty. Toasty, light sweet, light caramel. Flavor is malty, sweet, little Smokey/peat, light roast, nutty. Medium body. Creamy and smooth. Finish has some minerals, toasty, nutty. Smooth. Easy drinking like other Lake Louie brews. Pleasant.

On tap at The Old Fashioned. Tanish head, amber color. Aroma of toasted malt and earth. Taste is very dark fruit and some earthy hops, and caramel. full bodied and slick. A good beer for this -10 degree weather. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Itís gotta be me, as I just donít get a lot of flavor out of this. Poured perhaps a bit cold with a modest light tan head that soon settled and some lace. Color is a clear mahogany with some bubble trails. Aroma is very malty, toffee, caramel, hint of smoke, grain. Flavorís kind of bland; not as pronounced as nose, some tang up front, only a suggestion of scotch ale. Body/carbonation are excellent. Finish is like flavor, a slightly nuttiness lingers and thatís it. Meh.

12oz. bottle. Aroma of darkly toasted, sweet malts, some faint dried fruit and toffee with hints of earthiness and black bread. Dark, clear red-brown in color with a lasting, creamy, off-white head. Flavor profile is malty, gently toasty and lightly bitter with suggestions of raisin, nut and earth, some lingering tangy fruitiness and suggestions of alcohol late. Smooth, lightly prickly and effervescent on the palate with a medium body. Really very drinkable.

Pours a deep ruby with a half finger of tan head that sticks. Aromas are overwhelmingly of dark fruits, mainly grapes and cherries, along with some caramel in the background. Taste is this same maltiness all the way down. Rich and creamy mouthfeel, drinks bigger than 7.2%. This is one of the best Scottish Ales Iíve ever had.

12 oz. bottle I picked up in Wisconsin on my recent road trip to Yellowstone. Pours a lightly hazed deep amber with a moderate tan head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left a partial layer of foam with each sip. Pleasant aroma of malt and a bit of brown sugar. The flavor has ample malt with some brown sugar sweetness. Just a bit of toast in the flavor. Mild bitterness at the finish. Solid.

Bottle. Pours a clear, dark, reddish brown with a finger of frothy beige head. Excellent lacing. Aroma of caramel malts and dark fruits. The same in the taste, with a slight alcohol kick. Very good scotch ale.

Aroma was somewhat underwhelming, appearance was also lacking. Has a good taste but lacks complexity. The palate was decent, overall I think there are much better options from this Brewery. But this is one of their most widely distributed beers.
