Pours with dark amber, burnt orange, copper colour and off-white, ecru-coloured foam. The aromatics are primarily citrus (grapefruit) with a subtle pine note. After the first scent, the malt aromatics come through – slight hint of toffee with some mild aromas of hay and straw. The body of the beer is roasted malts, dark toffee, a gentle molasses flavour and a touch of black licorice. The mouth feel is rounded and very dry. The finish is moderate-to-bold bitterness that lingers longer but is very pleasant. The finish is enveloping and builds with each sip.

October 6, 2012 ; 6% abv, 750 mL bottle, BBD Oct 29/12; rock glass Citrus hops dominate. Pours a caramel colour with a nice tan head. Good looking beer. Balanced caramel malts with grapefruit citrus hops. Resin finish is lingering. A little thin in the body but overall, clean character. Highly drinkable, which isn’t a great thing for an IPA (I think). Resin bitterness is a bit too powerful.

Pours a completely filtered copper colour with a thin white head that leaves a wash of lacing. Moderate carbonation is visible. Aromas of pine, citrus hops, and sweet caramel malts. Some bready yeast too. Medium, slightly creamy mouth feel. The tastes are a nice blend of the hops and malts, and it also has both sweet and earthy components. I’m fairly impressed by the balance in this one. This won’t be the best IPA I drink in 2015, but with its impressive balance, one could do far worse. Very drinkable.

Aroma is citrus, clove, lemongrass and slight earthiness. Taste is a very pale sweet malt body with a dominant hop body that is similar to aroma with light tartiness on finish. Appearance is a clear copper with a fluffy pearl head that retains well.

Pours a clear amber with a frothy white head. Aroma includes notes of malt, grapefruit and mango. Tasting notes include caramel and buttery malts, and citrus and pine hops, and finishes with a crisp bitter bite. Not bad! I think they found a great mix of malt and hops in this one!

Bottle shared with northropfrye. Floral aroma, frothy head, clear copper body. A bit on the acidic side. A solid IPA.

Light orange/amber body with foamy white head and nice lacing. Citrus and warm malt aroma. Taste is not crazy bitter, but nice hoppiness and a bit of nuttiness. Medium palate. Not bad.

750ml brown bottle. Deep golden, clear. Low sitting white cap with a creamy bead. Nose has some grapefruit, orange and is a bit woody and piney. Taste has light caramel base malt, pine and woody notes than blend into a bright grapefruity and fruity finish. Aftertaste has grapefruit and leafy hop. Bitterness is light. Actually a pretty good IPA from a brewery that usually doesn’t impress me too much.

I thought this was nothing special. Aromas of toast and dark malts. More bitter toasty malts in the flavor... Maybe some hop finish... Otherwise average.
