Pours with dark amber, burnt orange, copper colour and off-white, ecru-coloured foam. The aromatics are primarily citrus (grapefruit) with a subtle pine note. After the first scent, the malt aromatics come through – slight hint of toffee with some mild aromas of hay and straw. The body of the beer is roasted malts, dark toffee, a gentle molasses flavour and a touch of black licorice. The mouth feel is rounded and very dry. The finish is moderate-to-bold bitterness that lingers longer but is very pleasant. The finish is enveloping and builds with each sip.

bottle. Poured clear medium amber-brown with a rocky off-white head. Sweet malt aroma with fresh hops. Crisp carbonated mouthfeel with a sticky dry finish. Flavour of caramel malt with a fair amount of fresh herbal hops, ends with some peppery spice.

Can bought at an LCBO in Toronto/Canada. Pours a brown copper color, soapy solid white head. Aroma is malty and I do jot detect any other flavors. Taste a great balance of malt and bitter hops and bitter fruits, all on a good mild level. This IPA is a not a hoppy citrus style India pale ale, but more of a tradinional one. I like it. A good beer.

473ml can from the LCBO in Peterborough, Ontario. Clear copper in colour with a thin lasting off-white head, light lacing. The aroma is grainy and malty, some caramel sweetness, light hops. The flavour is moderately sweet, some citrus hop bitterness, caramel. Finishes a bit thin, citrus bitterness.

Can. Clear amber pour with an off-white head. Aromas of sweet tropical fruit and some light citrus. Flavour is the same, some nice citrus zest and sweet fruit with a butter edge - not hugely flavourful but nicely balanced. Tastes very fresh - caned less than a month ago. Not bad, but not outstanding.

Dark copper pour with bit slightly off white head. Resiny aroma. Moderate hop character with long aftertaste, some sweetness at the very front from malt, slightly lighter bodied than average IPA which gives a slight harshness. Average IPA, very pleasant.

Got a 473ml (where does that total come from for a can???) LCBO, pours a copper orange color, with a medium foam head. Aroma whiff is citrus as mentioned and pine, linger of hay or grass too. Mouthful I get smooth and dry and further smell get toffee and maple hint almost, with a bitter finish that is not overpowering. Not a bad beer to drink!

A 473ml can from LCBO,not a fan of the LOB offerings generally, but always open to try a new local product. This one is very good, not an epic IPA. Very drinkable indeed. Not too hoppy, quite smooth, nicely done.

ENG: 750ml bottle from Liquor Mart in Winnipeg. Poured into the tulip, gives a bit opalescent, amber-copper color with small tan head. Aromas of pine, citrus (mostly lime and grapefruit), caramel and maybe a bit alcoholic. Tastes citrusy and floral, with hints of pine. Very delicate but present bitterness aftertaste. Quite dry finish, medium carbonation, medium body, very drinkable. Good beer.

PL: Butelka 750ml kupiona w Liquor Mart w Winnipeg. Przelana do kieliszka, nieco opalizująca, bursztynowo-miedziana barwa z niewielką, jasną pianą. Aromaty sosnowe, cytrusowe (głównie limonka i grejfrut), karmelowe i nieco alkoholu. W smaku cytrusowe i kwiatowe, z dodatkiem sosny. W posmaku bardzo delikatna ale zauważalna goryczka. Dość wytrawne, średnie nasycenie, średnie odczucie w ustach, bardzo pijalne. Smaczne piwo.

Pop the can & pour into your Lake of Bays pint glass. Notice that it has been a long, long time since you’ve actually had a LofB beer (your cabin is a ten minute drive to their brewery but you tire of a) their fear of hops & b) their over-priced large bottles of lager redux named after hockey players). You’ve had this ipa before in their over-priced bomber version. Maybe they’ve improved the recipie? Maybe they actually added the hops the style requires? Maybe Stephen Harper isn’t wearing a toupee? The positives: the brisk, dry finish & the way it bites the tongue & throat. The negatives: not nearly enough hops to be called an IPA; one dimensional interpretation of the style; the messy mineral flavour profile muddies the flavour. Could be worse, but it could be so, so, so much better.

(Rating #6117)
