COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A brewer, a coffee roaster and a craft beer snob walk into a bar in Muskoka. The result: A rich winter beer full of coffee, chocolate and roasted barley. Perfect with a hearty meal on a cold winter night. Cheers!

On tap at Imbibe. Slightly clear (light passes through it), with a big creamy head. Aroma of creamy coffee, with slight metallic hints. Taste is relatively smooth, roasty, with a clean watery finish. A distinct lack of chocolate taste, for something calling itself "mocha". Body is too thin.

Cask at Vankleek Hillís/Beauís Oktoberfest. Almost opaque, pitch black. Taste is chocolate, sweet cream and vanilla. Some black coffee bitterness in the finish. Light bodied. Somewhat heavily carbonated, for a cask conditioned porter...regardless, pretty decent.

750ml bottle. As you would expect from a coffee porter, the body is a deep brown, almost black; the head is big, fluffy and of an eye delightful mocha color; the retention is good, but the watery consistency does not leave much of lacing. Aroma is very hoppy at first, then thereís the coffee, the burned brown sugar, the spring water, prunes, and some bitter herbs. At the first sip, the taste is watery but with a good dose of roasted malt, than thereís coffee, brown sugar, hops, fresh spring water, some sourness. Iíd say itís a good coffee porter, at a level with Muskoka brews. Good.

The bodyís good enough and the coffee meshes well with the porter so Iím happy with it. Not jumping around but a little grin. Thatís all I could ask for I suppose. The head was quite beautiful. Coffee was mostly in the smell and slightly in the aftertaste, didnít carry a punch, but I guess thatís not what they were going for. Very good for a new brewery, looking forward to the future.

Purchased at the Niagara Falls LCBO on Ferry street. Big darker beige cap that has great retention and thick bubbly lacing. Looks like I am drinking a coffee (as the paper cup I am using for this is the only thing I could find in this hotel - coffee cups). Dark brown colour with a mild roasted malt aroma and hints of coffee. Smooth mouthfeel with a little stickiness, but overall, pretty refreshing. Notes of toffee and nuts come out eventually in the scent. The taste is well-blended and light with the roasted malt and hop to not be too bitter, and the coffee showing up more in the aftertaste. Very easy to drink as this one is not overpowering, not too thick and not having a never-ending finish.

Bottled sample via BreWedge, sampled with Savvy1982. Dark brown in colour with hints of red. Medium carbonation. Aromas are of chocolate milk powder, light roast coffee, and malted milk. More milk chocolate and coffee on the palate, along with a bit of a herbal note and a touch of minerals. Somewhat of a thin mouthfeel. A solid porter overall

Bottle. Pours clear black with a garnet flash, thin tan head, soft lacing. Nose is creamy coffee, milk chocolate. Flavours of toasty roast, some soap, lighter bodied. Light and a bit soapy. Okay.

Dogbrick (8812) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 20, 2012
Sample at the Strange Brew Tasting on 02/18/2012. The beer is a clear dark brown color with a medium light tan head that dissipates steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of stale coffee and some off-putting peat. Medium body with flavors of cocoa, mild coffee and malt. The finish is short with a malt aftertaste. Slightly below average overall.
