A brewer, a coffee roaster and a craft beer snob walk into a bar in Muskoka. The result: A rich winter beer full of coffee, chocolate and roasted barley. Perfect with a hearty meal on a cold winter night. Cheers!

The bodyís good enough and the coffee meshes well with the porter so Iím happy with it. Not jumping around but a little grin. Thatís all I could ask for I suppose. The head was quite beautiful. Coffee was mostly in the smell and slightly in the aftertaste, didnít carry a punch, but I guess thatís not what they were going for. Very good for a new brewery, looking forward to the future.

Purchased at the Niagara Falls LCBO on Ferry street. Big darker beige cap that has great retention and thick bubbly lacing. Looks like I am drinking a coffee (as the paper cup I am using for this is the only thing I could find in this hotel - coffee cups). Dark brown colour with a mild roasted malt aroma and hints of coffee. Smooth mouthfeel with a little stickiness, but overall, pretty refreshing. Notes of toffee and nuts come out eventually in the scent. The taste is well-blended and light with the roasted malt and hop to not be too bitter, and the coffee showing up more in the aftertaste. Very easy to drink as this one is not overpowering, not too thick and not having a never-ending finish.

Bottled sample via BreWedge, sampled with Savvy1982. Dark brown in colour with hints of red. Medium carbonation. Aromas are of chocolate milk powder, light roast coffee, and malted milk. More milk chocolate and coffee on the palate, along with a bit of a herbal note and a touch of minerals. Somewhat of a thin mouthfeel. A solid porter overall

Bottle. Pours clear black with a garnet flash, thin tan head, soft lacing. Nose is creamy coffee, milk chocolate. Flavours of toasty roast, some soap, lighter bodied. Light and a bit soapy. Okay.

Sample at the Strange Brew Tasting on 02/18/2012. The beer is a clear dark brown color with a medium light tan head that dissipates steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of stale coffee and some off-putting peat. Medium body with flavors of cocoa, mild coffee and malt. The finish is short with a malt aftertaste. Slightly below average overall.

Bottle shared by a friend. Brown pour with a thick beige head. Coffee and malt aroma with some vegetal and infection notes. Coffee and caramel malt flavor with some chocolate before a roasty finish.. Kinda thin and faint, but on the upside Iím not getting infection in the flavor like I got in the nose.

Tap at burger bar. Black pour, thin cream head. Coffee, dark chocolate, molasses. Thin body a little oily. Something a bit sour and slimy on the front of the mouth. Finishes fine, but I canít quite get over that initial sense in the front teeth. Otherwise itís an easy dark coffee beer, but definitely not the best Iíve had. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours black with a creamy tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is mostly of roasted grains and coffee beans, but there is some subtle chocolate scents as well. Taste is slightly sweet, mildly bitter and quite dry. Medium body, smooth somewhat thinner mouth feel and soft carbonation. A pretty good porter overall.

Promised more then it delivered. Strong coffee flavour, but nothing I would rush to drink again.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color porter with a medium size light brown foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma consists of light black chocolate with some medium dry roasted notes and light mocha notes also perceptible. Taste is also a nice enough mix between some mocha with light black chocolate and lightly dry roasted malt notes. Body is a bit thin for style with good carbonation. Not bad though not something I would seek on a regular basis.
