Pour dark brown with ruby edges tan head. Aroma cereal, grain, chocolate, coffee, nuttiness, cinnamon. Taste roasty, chocolate, cold coffee, off bitterness, straw, slightly watery. MF mild slightly thin body. Overall like a mix of things that just wanna be friends but they arenít. The elements are there but balance strength and flavor just arenít right.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
750ml bottle shared with McBerko. Pours a deep ruby tinged chestnut with moderate head. Aroma smells right; good cocoa, roasted malt notes with a little coffee and sweetness. Taste is much the same but fairly thin and lacking in depth. Porters can, from my experience, be a little watery but this seems a tad too much. Finish is unremarkable. Itís okay but forgettable.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
750mL bottle, split with manuchampions, pours black with almost no head. Aroma of solid mocha with roasted espresso beans. Flavour of mild espresso beans, roasted notes and light chocolate. Flat, muted flavour profile - quite watery. Drinkable.

Glad I got to try this one, thanks to scott. it pours a dark colour, did have a bit of head but didnt retain. Smell of dark roasty malts, taste mixed with coffee and chocolate, real quite nice and easy drinking, I would enjoy a bottle of this on a nice cold december month

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Deep brown-black pour with a thin tan head. The aroma is quite coffeeish. A bit of bittersweet chocolate in back, but its mostly coffee. A little bit of acidity and roasted barley. Bittersweet finish. Medium bodied. Its a decent brew, but itís nothing earthshattering either.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
750 ml bottle from LCBO, served cool in a tulip glass.
App.: Deep brown-black with a small light mocha head.
Aroma: Bright, bordering on tangy black coffee and dark chocolate, certainly more coffee than chocolate, slightly ashen, a little grape fruitiness, really, the acidity borders on infection, in my opinion. A touch problematic and kinda simple, but still OK.
Palate: Medium+ body, soft, fairly restrained effervescence, with a little chalky astringency.
Flav.: Lots of cold, medium-roasted black coffee, a bit of dark chocolate, a little watery and minerallic (not a real word!), much less of the acidic notes (thankfully), still fairly simple, but not too bad; dry with a little bitterness and a kinda watery finish.
Nice bottle. Mediocre porter. A somewhat-above-run-of-the-mill addition to the Ontario beer scene. Excellent use of hyphens....

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 bottle pours 75% flat with almost no head, deep red brown color with gold to clear highlights. Faint fruit and coffee aroma. Taste espresso coffee and some moderately sweet dark raisin-like fruit. Ends with light coffee and hop dryness, a little mineral, a touch lemon acidity. Feel is flat, obviously and has a light viscous feel on the finish. Not bad stuff overall.

Bottle. Innisfil, Ontario.
Not a great pour - pretty thin, very little head. Aroma is not altogether pleasant and a little surprising - maybe I just had a funky bottle. Taste is pretty smooth, plenty of coffee taste, love the roast. Very slight maltiness. Weak back end, wish this were a little heartier. Not at all a bad beer but there are plenty of better porters out there.

I tried this beer on December 11, 2010 after purchasing from one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a very dark brown, almost black into a Leffe goblet, with a thin brown bubbly head. The aroma was roasted malt, dark chocolate, and coffee. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was dark malt, coffee, and chocolate.
